[, Music ], what up talking fight fans tuning in to this very special episode of the knockout of the year award and uh? Today i am joined by our friends from over the pond blastball boxing carl and eddie.
Thank you for joining us for this wonderful episode of these great knockouts that we’ve seen all year and uh.
You guys are gon na help.
Us pick our uh, our winner and uh.
We have a.
We have a wonderful top five list and we put together some great knockouts that happened uh throughout the year, some very memorable ones, to uh to all the fans that do love boxing uh, so yeah we’re definitely going to talk about them, check them out.
Uh, we’ll analyze them and now we’ll see some short clips, uh cedric, yes, my main man, my co-host.
Thank you again for joining us, always a pleasure uh.
Yes, yeah man, much love and respect to all the people that tuned in today to see this wonderful joke.
Uh yeah man.
Let’S turn off colonel.
How are you hey man, how’s everything yeah, firstly, happy new year to my north american.
What is very good? Thank you for the invite.
Yes, definitely man.
Definitely we love having you guys on man.
It’S always a blast, uh yeah.
So i think we should just get right into it.
Um our producer is gon na show a couple of clips.
We’Re gon na break it down uh.
I don’t know if he knows what order the cooks go in, but um, let’s uh, let’s just get him to run the first one and uh we’ll definitely talk about the fight.
Also, yes, yes, this is f8 jagbob versus brian howard.
With that thunderous thunderous hit uh wow with the heavy weights, it’s always uh, you know, there’s always the chance of the one punch, knockout um, specifically with heavy f8 jagba another one of the you know typical heavy-hitting nigerians um and the what was special about that one.
It was a simple one.
Two, but again it was the thing that adds the extra onto it was the the noise that it makes when he first landed.
That uh, you know, sounds like a like a home run shot.
Well, let’s have a guy cedric when someone lands face floor on the mat, you know it’s a good punch, don’t you definitely it’s almost like when they, when the person doesn’t have a chance to brace themselves.
It’S just like you know.
You just turn off the lights and it’s just like you pull the plug.
I think it’s going to be a big year for a jug finish.
I think he needs to move up through the levels a little bit, though, let’s say but very exciting fire and power boys not just the power, but he has the skill too, because he didn’t he did go to the olympics.
I don’t know if it was 2012 or 2016.
, so he does have that skill level uh to along with the power so, like you said, carol, is going to be interesting how to see how he moves along this year, they’ve been slowly uh um climbing up climbing Him up the ladder this year is that is that a canadian application form i can say on your desk molly.
Yes, it is i’ve already.
I’Ve already sent it out twice too, when i think about when i think about knockouts of the year.
That’S what i think about one punch, cold, knockout um, but that like you’ve, just like cedric just mentioned there, there’s that’s more than just a wild swing, knockout that he sets it up with with the the short faint from the left hand, which which makes howard open His body up and drop his hands.
Yes exactly well cedric, i mean you’ll, know better than me being a trainer that sort of thing’s worked on in the gym.
Isn’T it yes exactly and it, and you know it’s something that you have to practice over and over again to make it natural.
So it’s not so obvious that you’re trying to set something up um, so yeah man, you know, what’s very underrated in the boxing game.
The fame, the faint, is very underrated.
Exactly that’s something that i emphasize a lot, because, just by the faints alone, you can see what your opponent is trying to do.
What what if you throw a jab, they might be whether they try to catch it or try to slip one way or slip the other way or just step back.
You can kind of see what they’re trying to do and that way you can throw another feint and then throw the punch to where you expect them to be at, and it can often be the keys to the lock can’t it.
You know you’d get a fighter to open up a little bit if it’s took behind that behind that eye guard exactly exactly different different ways to get the opening.
Yes, you know what i think this taco really uh, really people up to uh two.
I don’t think really too many people kind of knew his name until this big knockout on brian, which, honestly, what a thunderous clap that thing made and another another thing about.
Um, the effectiveness of the knockout is how long the person does not move after after they go down.
I got the highlight on my other laptop right now and he’s he’s been down, for you know a good two minutes before moving like so so that shows the effectiveness of of the power of that power shot.
Definitely definitely all right.
So we got a couple more to get through, so i guess eric uh roll us another video, please! Oh, oh, the birchallette, the virtualized bike, man valdez and virgilette uh very early in the year.
This one was uh and i believe this was the first fight.
They were already talking about being a runner-up.
That’S the one thing i was going to bring up.
That was the one thing that was special about this knockout is the the two defensive moves that he did before the knockout.
It wasn’t just simple standing there and throwing he he made him.
He slipped one duck under another one with his hands up and clipped him right on the chin and another one who’s, the sound, the sound that it makes, and i think it helped because this was earlier in the year when there wasn’t a big uh audience.
Big crowd, so you can really hear every punch and again that noise that sound, that it made i’ll, tell you what cedric, if you, if you just set that up in the in the gym before the fight you’d be chuffed, wouldn’t you you were doing cartwheels in That arrangement yeah, if that came off, especially because you guys know how much i emphasize defense so just to pull off a d2 defensive moves like that, going backwards, two defensive going backwards and to catch.
Somebody like that.
That’S beautiful! That shows that the accuracy and the power part of me there’s a big spotlight on this on this fight as well, because of obviously the controversy surrounding it.
Let’S say seeing as i’m not on my show, i’m not going to open myself up and put you guys in any sort of uh stickers come on there.
You are they’ve got they’ve got they’ve got a big defense in there.
No, it’s not fair.
It’S not fair! For me to completely give my honest, honest opinion of of the valdez situation – that’s not on, but i think from what i’m saying you you know where i’m going just to briefly talk about.
I think that the ped situation that you speak of, but that definitely is that puts a bit of a dampener on the fire and the knockout.
What i would say is, though um bird champ was was done before the knockout.
He you know he he was intro.
If you and we’re only showing the knockout, but if you, if you roll back a minute or two within that round, he’d gone down once all over the already and when, when he’s throwing the shots, he’s throwing when valdez is on on the defense um as cedric.
Rightly says he: he takes two defensive steps back, but he’s in position and ready to throw that big shot.
Bertrand’S, not thinking about his defense at all.
At that point he’s out of it he’s not there really he’s throwing the kitchen sink in he’s.
Doing he’s fighting on instinct [, Music ], so i mean for me.
I know we’ll probably talk about the order a bit later, but for me because of that, that’s a little bit the further down my picking.
All of them, probably is yours.
You know what valdos valdez did outland virtually like 103 to 64 on power punches in that fight as well.
So we don’t really mi.
We don’t really place much emphasis on power punches over here in the uk.
Not really.
No, it seemed to be more of a north american thing.
Doesn’T it andy? We don’t really know yeah, it’s not something we really um yeah.
I suppose we don’t.
We don’t count shots the way the counts are done on american tv interesting bit different.
That’S it man.
You guys are on the other side.
That’S why that’s all it is um, so uh, let’s move on to the next uh eric, throw us the next video up.
Let’S see! Oh yes, yes, yes, jose! Sepeda starts yeah a perfect one, two and the reason why it was a perfect one too, is because he used the jab zepeda used his jab they’re, both paws.
He used his jab to to land it on vargas, to turn his head slightly.
So he didn’t even see the the left hand coming and that’s why it was that’s why it was so perfect by the time that the first jab landed on vargas’s chin.
By the time he turned around, as he was turning back around, that straight left, just came across and um it was.
It was all over after that.
You know.
You said your way you took it through it.
Just like.
I was in the ring then special about this.
I mean it’s always good.
When um, you know at the press kind of in the pre-fight press conference.
You know both a lot of times.
Opponents will be talking trash to each other, but this one was this.
One was a little bit extra vargas was was really talking.
Uh zapata is usually more common reserved, but vargas was really being active and loud and – and you know, almost started a big brawl at the at the pre-fight press conference and then um.
You know it’s very humbling when you go down like that.
Uh, you know person talking, especially after doing all that talking you go down, yeah yeah after you get in because he does get up yeah.
I mean that his heart, his heart, made him get up, but he i mean in reality stopped it very quickly with a with a flourish in the corner, but you know very quickly afterwards got ta, give vargas credit for even getting up off that yeah yeah.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t he couldn’t get up to continue to do anything, but then that his heart, his heart, helped him get up.
After that, he didn’t even know he was standing in the ring anymore man and again, and even with that one two.
It didn’t even look like, for example, the the one two that fa jaba landed like you can tell the power that was on that the this one was the peda.
It didn’t even look like he threw it.
It was just super perfectly placed right on the bullseye right on the chin.
It even looked like he threw it like with that much power, but because it was so perfectly placed on the chin.
That’S how it had that’s how it caused so much damage.
Yes, definitely.
Definitely that was a big one, huge one.
Let’S move on to the next eric rowland, oh the biggest upset of the year baby yeah yeah yeah yeah, that’s uh that uh loses uh in the last in the gold medal match yeah.
He was greek.
He was not up, you know was that the other guy he wasn’t happy at the stoppage.
No, no, no, but um.
Remember at the amateur level.
I’M glad you brought that up at the amateur level they’re more about the safety like at the pro level, even though he his legs were a little bit wobbly, the referee probably would have still let him continue um.
You know it’s professional, you know fighting for money, so it’s the rhythms and losses really count at the pro level, so the referee might have let him continue, but at the amateur level, like a lot of times at the amateur level, they’ll give you an eight count.
If you just got hit hard just to check up on you um, so what was special about this one? First of all, let me make sure i pronounced this guy’s name properly, alexander kisniak from the ukraine.
He was the number one rated boxer of the whole tournament, not just of that weight class um.
He won the world championships um and every that was that i believe, was his third match in in the olympics on every round of every fight before that was winning every both rounds of them of this match too, and that land i mean the punch that um That uh, the brazilian conceal, landed.
He was trying to land that the whole fight, but it wasn’t working like he was he was like.
You can see that he was trying to do it um, but it wasn’t working kisniak his his his special talent is just his ability to continuously throw power punches like it’s not like he’s.
It’S like he’s like trying to catch and slip, and you know make the person miss he’s just his sick and destroyed.
That’S what that’s.
What he’s doing he’s got that come forward yeah as many punches as you can fighting mentality.
He got caught on the chin, and this is why this isn’t going to be up on my list um, because they’re both swinging.
What i take from what i take from that is they’re both swinging and either of them could have got sparked.
It was just first and the key he just slang down, and then we won the north american channel last time, sometimes yeah, so either of them either of them could have, could have landed that shot at any point because they were both throwing.
You know what it was.
It was just a really big upset, though that was a huge upset.
You know kid.
The guy was favored to win.
He was winning everything up until that one moment and then just got caught and got caught by something that that he was trying to throw the whole fight like, like you were saying he was loading just waiting and waiting and waiting great moment.
I know it’s almost like a movie because it was the last.
It was probably like the last minute of the last round.
Right like like a movie like it was a movie setup.
Am i able to just throw a quick question in future guys [ Applause ]? Do we know who that is? Yes, it’s it’s the uh, the canadian gold medalist from the uh.
Yes, thank you.
Thank you exactly do you need to play again? I think right mike didn’t lie! That’S what it was.
It was the canadian gold medalist yeah.
That’S right! That’S right, that’s great! I can’t believe you still bitter over it.
I thought you died.
The first step is admitting it to yourselves and letting go yes, of course, of course.
Yes, he was unknown to us.
He was on loan [, Music, ] uh eric.
We have one more video roll it out.
No, this, i believe, was um other well.
There was a couple of upsets.
You know.
We talked about kiko martinez and um um george cambosis over over lopez, but as far as knockout upset of the year.
I believe this was this.
Was the one here um, that’s the best, a lot yeah.
Let me uh make sure i’m pronouncing tried to pronounce his name properly.
Oh, you must have been practicing.
No one buddy yeah when did gabriel’s out over suspecting your mother yeah, go ahead mike huge, huge uh huge upset man uh back to memorial cousins.
What undefeated up until this point! This is his first loss he suffers and uh.
He suffers in a devastating way.
Uh! You know what a big big shot and, honestly i’m i’m surprised.
He came back after that and and it’s come back in a good fashion.
Look good after this after this loss man – but this is this – is huge.
This is a huge upset yeah.
He um uh.
Actually, sorry, i feel like i’m talking the whole time carl and you go.
You guys give your piece well, i thought it was impressive to say that rizal was 35 years old.
I thought it’s very impressive to be able to to spark him um like he did so, and the foot movement as well i’m a big fan of people coming out and in the range i think it’s um in boxing terms is very sexy.
There we go.
It’S finesse, it’s it’s nice and finesse man.
When you see good footwork, you know you know the guy’s got great skills and it’s you know.
That’S amazing.
I like toe to toe.
You don’t get me wrong, but he’s got his plays on to when he, when you know the art of um, be it and don’t it and don’t be it.
You know it’s very that’s what boxing’s about, isn’t it yeah, so rosado is meant to be there as chump.
It’S meant change, be the next big thing.
So here’s the thing you can’t you can’t count out experience.
No, yes, yes, yes and rosado.
For me rosado.
For me, uh did everything he needed to do.
He got him he’s got his he’s got his self into the right position.
There he’s basically begging uh malcolm i just i he’s basically begging him to come on to him and he’s just waiting.
He’S waiting.
He’S got the shot ready.
I i’ve not watched i’ve not watched the full fight.
I would like to have seen the full fight to see whether he’s trying to set that up earlier on in the fight, because to me that’s a planned move.
Mm-Hmm he’s is edging forward, he’s dropping back.
He said he’s wait, he’s waiting there for uh, mr beckham, who says b-e-k, so i mean he’s, i’m assuming he’s.
Okay, we’re just calling him back! No okay, so he’s kind of baiting back a little bit he’s waiting for him to to pounce he’s waiting for him to make that move.
So we can counter with that perfect shot.
Yeah yeah! I don’t want to add on to what andy’s saying um you’re exactly right, he’s gabe rosado.
He was kind of inching backwards, looking to land that i mean again, i’m looking at the highlights and watching this.
His nickname is beck the bully.
So that’s that’s his style.
He’S coming forward again, not he’s not trying to hide what he’s trying to do he’s coming to take your head off, but in a skilled way, because he did when um at the amateur level.
He did win a couple of uh.
I don’t know if it was world champions for or olympics, but he was at that high level.
So he does have that that high skill he’s a different sport, though cedric amateur and pro at different sports.
I get what you say about the skill set and i get that, but you know don’t always translate over into the pro game.
Does it it? Doesn’T it doesn’t always? But if you, if you were a high boxer, it’ll help you it’ll help you in these situations like not, but maybe them yeah, yeah yeah but um, but going back to the fight.
So just handing on going into what andy was saying.
Beck was coming forward.
Trying to try to take rosajo’s head on rosia, using his experience, was trying to back up and trying to look for that shot and one very good thing that all boxers should study.
What was that rosado did earlier in the fight when he got dropped in the in the second or third round? He took his time to go to one knee to get to to gather his bearing first before just hopping up like most fighters when they get knocked down.
It’S just a pride thing right you get knocked down.
You want to jump up right away when you jump up too fast.
The smart things to do get knocked down come to one knee.
Let the referee count to eight and get up.
Obviously, don’t just wait till nine and a half like some fighters.
Do we get up at eight and then and then and then you’ll you know you’ll have, you might still be hurt, but you won’t be as hurt because you were able to catch yourself, but that you know that just kind of that’s experience, though right yeah.
That comes with experience.
You know you see a lot of experienced fighters.
Do it.
You know i’ve even seen guys just taking themselves after being tagged properly.
You know just take that just to you know, get their mind back because they’re not seeing straight and honestly after that he was sleeping, so he wasn’t straight at all, but that was a big one.
That was a big one.
Honestly uh.
I defeated at that point in 7-0, going you know, looking to improve to eight knowing no, it did not before.
That was a big upset, though very big upset.
I love that one.
Actually, it was it’s up there for me.
He’Ll probably learn more in that fight than he will from another five or six fights of that kind of stature of you know, knocking people down for the fully knocking people down, he’ll, learn more from losing and taking taking that that big shot and and learning what He did wrong in taking that big shot.
Another question you guys are going to ask us: i’ve seen the script.
What what do we hope for in 2022 in boxing i know that was coming in a minute, but i’ll answer it now.
I hope that fighters stop having padded records and start to stop being so precious over their o’s and actually jump in with each other.
You know if you like andy, says: you’ll learn a lot more by far in a live opening and then they will fight in 20 non-openings like a certain fighter in the uk.
So let’s say: let’s start stepping up.
You know i’d like to see the same thing.
I definitely would like to see fights just happen, no more.
This uh ducking and dodging man and waiting for people to age out or you know, wanting to challenge after they’ve left the weight class like this crap’s got ta.
Stop honestly, i i hope 2022, the guys just do what the women are doing and just accept the damn fights and have to make it out uh.
That’S that’s what i’d like to see i’ve seen i’ve seen andy um, giving it some on twitter today, sorry giving it some means a load of comments about women boxing, and let me just take your tues point on this.
Whether women’s round should be up from two minutes to three minutes.
What are your two’s thoughts on it? I think honestly and truthfully i did a little special on it.
I believe three rounds.
Three minutes give it to they want it they can handle it uh it’ll.
Definitely make for uh, maybe some more finishes.
Some more knockouts in women’s fighting uh definitely will earn the more money uh bigger purses.
I say: let them have it man, they want to be treated as equal, give it to them.
Why are we holding it back? We’Ll play devil’s advocate for a minute in cedric i’ll, let you in in a minute, because it’s not my show will that dilute the female box a little bit, because at the minute you could argue that the two minute rounds mean you’ve got to get on with It and go toe-to-toe a little bit yeah i mean.
Oh sorry, that was for mike finish, going, don’t go, go ahead right, um yeah, but i mean you could say the same argument for guys that you cut the guys around to two minutes to make them work harder.
So i mean i don’t know i don’t know it depends on uh, maybe the the the hype, no, no just make it three minutes just make it three years like three minutes i was, i was gon na say make maybe um you know the championship fights make Those three minutes just to ease your way into it, but whatever just just open it up like when we train like when i train females, i don’t make them train two minutes.
They train three minutes, just like the guys do so so the tweet that carl’s referring to was was a reply from me to uh the legend that is, barry mcguigan.
Okay, someone had asked me someone someone else had asked by him a good magwig and what his thoughts were, and i think i think, with uh.
I can say that barry turan has said that the very best women would be able to deal with three minutes.
No problem whatsoever and he’s right he’s right: they can they can that, and i agree that why not have them have them in three minute round fights.
But the cancer argument is exactly what cole said: the reason that we heart we we’re holding certain fights of the year and we’re saying.
Oh, this woman’s fight was fight of the year.
This one’s fight was fight of the year.
Um is because every second of every round is exciting.
You know they’re, not they’re, not pacing themselves.
You know you you’re, seeing a lot of in a lot of a lot of men’s fights fighters go missing for 15 20 seconds 30 seconds around taking a breather.
You know they’ll walk around the room for a little bit, take a little bit of time because they know they’re going 12 rounds and and if they’re, not absolutely bang on fitness, come come to the ninth or the 10th round, they’re blowing, even the very best.
You know, whereas the women are not having to do that currently because, like cedric’s just said, they’re still training for three minute rounds, but they’re only they’re already fighting two minute rounds.
So i don’t know i don’t mean this is disrespectful at all.
But what i’ll? Actually, for me, it’s actually a bonus to the to the ladies, because that’s what’s making every second of every round so exciting and that’s why we’re saying it’s a product like the men’s boxing’s a product you know, and if the products skyrocketing for female boxes at the Minute, look at some of the persons that serrano is getting.
I know it’s under jake paul, that’s arguing for another day, but you know the purses are going up and up and up and up so there is a danger.
Andy says: should it go to three rounds? Will that dilute the product a little bit? We don’t know until we try it.
I guess exactly well that the people, if they’re getting paid more money, they’re getting slightly more um.
You know ticket sales.
Their fans might want to see them for that extra minute depending if, if the demand is there or not – and it’s just like carl here, i’m gon na bring up the olympics again sorry allowed um boxing in the olympics.
They only allowed three weight classes right, but in the past two like in 2012, there’s only three weight classes, but 2016 they opened it up to a few more.
So i think this is like in the pro level when female boxing’s first started, you know uh.
It was just two minutes, but now that it’s blowing up and getting a bigger audience they’re getting bigger paychecks more people want to see them.
Maybe that extra minute will help them get more exposure to help cedric presley.
I think he should have pitched three minutes and i think he’ll be uh, a brave governing body that breaks cover and actually starts doing over three minutes.
I think it will happen this year.
Um – and i think it’s inevitable – i think as a product – it’s growing and growing and growing.
So why shouldn’t we align it? It’S not like soccer i’ll use north american slang.
It’S not like women’s soccer players play for 70 minutes rather than knights.
Is it yeah, yeah, you’re, right, yeah, know so so i finished the line it all uh.
You know and they’re all in their own.
You know, let’s have it right.
Some of the best parts of the year have been female fighters right exactly what the women want.
The women are asking for it; they want three minutes.
You know, honestly.
I think this is a year we got to give it to them.
You know we’re not going to know we’re not going to know if it waters down the the the product.
Until we see it so you know we got to see it before.
We can actually judge it, and you know, let’s give the public what they want.
If they want to see these women with an extra minute, give it to them.
And let’s and let’s watch it happen because it’s growing and just add on to that mike um there’s been some some women fighters this year that have shown much more um cajons, let’s say than their male counterparts yeah.
I mean whether you, whether you, whether you believe ebony bridges, is a good fighter or not.
When you see the state of her eye in that in that that fight – and she carries on for three rounds with with not being able to see yeah how many male fighters would have carried on.
Oh that’s the same argument.
I’Ve been saying i’ve been i’ve been saying this the whole time, not many, not many out.
There would continue with an eye like that.
You know that just shows the heart and determination that these women have when they get in that room.
So we’re about michael about.
Are we about the time where we can give our channel a shameless plug? Yes, do it up give your plug? Please.
Thank you.
So obviously, me and andy are from a channel called laspell boxing over in the uk.
Michael said, you’d join us fairly regular to prepare.
We go live on thursday, nights 7 p.
m.
Uk time doing a quick map so that works at 2pm, canadian time yeah.
However, we do record the shows a lot of content on there.
Mark and cedric will agree.
I’M sure some great guests something great content, big time, guest, great content, big time, good talks, great boxing talks, man.
We were well in collaboration, don’t we guys? You know we make the pond feel very small? Yes, yes, so long may continue joining 2022.
That’S all! I can say guys: yes, yes, yes, definitely all right.
You know what it’s going to be a great year for boston.
That’S for damn sure! That’S your damn chair, so the question at hand is who are we gon na pick as our winner of the year? Um? Okay, i think the best thing to do mike, if you don’t mind me saying i think the best thing to do is ask us to uh to score them in counter order.
So, fifth to third and then and then you being the you being the gaffer of the show and all that uh you, you get the deciding vote all right.
Let’S do it, let’s do it i’ll go first.
If you don’t mind, are you okay? I can’t pronounce the guy’s name, so i’m just gon na say the amateur, quite fifth, okay and then rosado fourth [ Music, ], a jaguar three sepeda two, i’m [: Music, ], okay, okay, okay, really, okay, so i i’ve gone with carl the same as number five.
I’Ve gone the amateur fight for the simple reason that either of them could have guessed could have got a spot there.
Uh i’ve got valerie’s number four for the reasons that i mentioned a little bit earlier on uh, it sounds it sours.
My look on the fight.
A little bit um and again um yeah it yeah it’s one of them.
It’S one of them.
Um i’ve gone i’ve gone to peda number three, because it wasn’t a one-punch knockout uh.
It was a great shot.
Don’T get me wrong, but because it wasn’t a one punch, knockout i’ve got him number three um i’ve got a jaguar number two.
This was very close to me.
Number two number one: i’ve got a jabber number, two, absolutely perfect punch and very well set up uh, but i’ve gone risado number one, because i think i think the the brain took over there um experiencing the fight took over he lured um back into a full Sense of security, bringing him into into the punch to be honest with you, it was as much it was as much beck walking forward onto the shot as it was rosado landing the shop that knocked him out, cedric all right, all right, all right, um, i’m gon Na go with uh some mix up the order.
Here i put zepeda at the as my fifth one.
To be honest, oh what happened to curl um, i’m going up there: okay, okay um, i’m going with the zepeda as the as the the last one of the the top five um again.
I love the way he placed that perfect.
One too um but, like andy said it wasn’t one punch knockout but uh.
I just love the way that was, that was number five number four is from the olympics, um and again the story behind that.
You know the the number one fighter going into the tournament.
Um was winning every fight of every round of the whole tournament and then got caught in the last minute.
So i think i think it was more so the the dramatics of it and you’re right, even though randy and he said either one of them got caught.
But it was still like the accuracy of because again in cases like that, some fighters will just shell up because in like when someone is just putting power punches on you and you lose, you clearly lose the first round.
You clearly lose the second round.
Some fighters will just shell up; they just give up mentally just try to move around just hope for the round to finish soon, but he kept trying and kept trying and finally landed it.
So that’s what i thought was special about that.
So that’s number four number.
Three fa ajagba because again, when you flatten somebody and they actually don’t move – and it’s actually concerning you know – that’s that shows the the power in that um perfectly placed one two.
The light switch got the plug from the light, switch got pulled and uh yeah.
He just dropped right on the spot, um number two and i’ll i’ll agree with andy.
This is the only reason why it’s number two valdez.
The only reason why i don’t have a number one is because the asterisk beside it because of the uh because of the the ped situation um again, i just love the way valdez set that up going backwards.
Rachel was hurt, but he still you know a lot of fighters still come back from getting hurt like tyson fury for a perfect example.
He got dropped twice and still came back and knocked out wilder.
So burchell did get dropped earlier, but he still was coming back.
Strong um valdez did two great defensive moves.
You guys know how much i love defense and then ben planted that tail after that um.
So that was my number two.
The only reason why i was number one is because of the you think and of course, number one: uh: the upset of the year upset nko of the year beck the bully lost to a gabe rosado uh.
Nobody was expecting gabe rosado to win this fight.
This was just supposed to be a stepping stone for for bec the bully and again looking at the highlights like becca, i was watching the fight, not the highlights, but he had he was showing no respect for gabe rosado like he was literally just walking like sometimes Not even in his boxing stance just coming forward at him, um and i loved how rosato got dropped and weathered the storm in an educated way.
The way he was able to weather that storm and um and came back with it with the big ko like not only was back face first but like face first getting his feet up.
Anyways yeah it was, it was uh.
The theatrics of that knockout was uh.
Was very good, so that’s my top five yeah.
Definitely um me number.
Five is definitely the the amateur uh my number four is valdez and virtually because of that asterix um.
Then it’s a page of ergus, a joke, but number two and honestly the upside of the year man, this auto infection here is my number one as well who’s, your honestly, my fight of the year bridges and courtney fights her fight yeah, just fine tomorrow, not your Fault is it fighter of the year honestly wow um, it’s too too many man too many to pick no need to go.
There had a good year, obviously canelo’s up there had a good year at 39 years.
No canelo’s asterix was two or three years ago, but because he’s farting look at his gym he’s border tested.
You don’t know that he’s how many months a year, because it’s because it’s the known thing it’s varna tested so there’s! No, so there’s no rumors about renaissance gym, a legend of course.
There is i’ll.
Tell you what let’s use when we’re putting the aspects in then, shall we let me talk and explain myself or you’re going to talk over me.
You want that.
Let me come in after.
Let me come in welcome to last boxing lads, [ Laughter, ].
So the reason valdez got caught was because he’s vaguely tested the reason that the masking agent was in his system, the reason the masking agent.
What does that say? What is that? The reason? The reason the masking agent was found involved as a system was because he was varna, tested canelo’s gone when he was found to have the magic meat in his system.
Yeah yeah.
He was vodka, but that hasn’t happened now for two years.
So he’s either got a better masking agent than valdez or he’s very lucky before he’s no longer cheating or somebody or somebody’s pee and clean for him.
Yeah so is rose tinting justice time.
Like um, we had a vote on our show.
Yeah we vote.
We voted fighter of the year and cole said, even though, even though carl’s banging on now, he did say canelo yeah, but i’m not i’m not taking anything away from valencia because of the blah blah blah.
I’M consistent, in my view.
Okay, let me meet you halfway.
There so, if there’s multiple people from the same gym getting getting caught for for peds that that has to be definitely concerning for the workers in charge, the the coach, the trainer whoever’s in charge that it can’t just be two accidents of your.
You know your two top fighters.
No, it’s not it’s not accidental.
With that being said, you know, that’s it so when’s it become an astringent mark.
Listen, listen with that being said, um the fight with caleb plant.
One of the reasons why it almost didn’t happen was because of whatever pd testing, so caleb plant was okay, with whatever tests that they were going with.
So i miss for this fight.
At least he might have been.
He might have been clean for this one because that’s that was the main point where the fight didn’t happen, because caleb wanted a certain amount of um like testing right up until the fight or you know like i don’t know if it was three months.
He wanted.
Six months or something like that, so i think he did get what he wanted.
So that’s all! That’S all! That’S all we can say about that.
We use your word allegedly all the way through that i love you elizabeth.
What a great oh! Yes, i did.
I did and honestly man it’s it’s the back to mirror mellicus of taco beck getting his nuts is his light’s turned off.
Man rizal would have what a brilliant shot.
That’S my number one man knock out of the air right there biggest upset of the year to you, i think, and uh wow.
The bully really got bullied, went to sleep.
So, yes, we have picked our winner.
It is rosado hector mellicus knockout of the year.
Wonderful wonderful, knockout uh, i hope to see more more knockouts like that this year i know eric’s asking for voter fighter of the year by the looks of it fight of the year fight of the year.
I told you for me the fight of the year is it’s got to be according bridges online, what a battle mine’s chocolatito against two? Who did he fight against god? Oh yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes, it was over.
There was over there, there’s! No there’s! No elastics here or anything i’m not allowed to pick that fight.
Thank you.
Okay.
There was over 2 500 punches thrown in that fight by the way the record [ Music ], lower weight divisions.
That’S just that’s the style, isn’t it but yeah it wasn’t just so brawl.
There was lots of skill lots of positions yeah.
It was a very, very good fight if you haven’t seen it it’s their second fight and by all accounts they’re having a trilogy in the within the first three months of the next year, i believe, marching quotes in march.
I definitely appreciate the the the smaller weight classes that uh you know, show a little bit more catching and slipping, and you know making one mistake off of those power punch of those combinations because a lot of times when people talk about fight of the year, they Simply like for the for the casual fan, they they simply look at.
You know how many times each opponent got a knock down, which is the reason why you know people most people say not.
Maybe i don’t know about most, but a lot of people will pick fury and wilder to be the fight of the year because it was like five knockdowns, but as far as like skill level, it wasn’t too much like you know catching and slipping or defensive moves.
You know two guys two guys smashing each other, but with the little guys, estrada and chocolatito, you know um, you saw you know a little more tactical as far as their their uh, their offense and defense.
You guys like, like crazy.
We’Ve had a lot of great fights in the uk everywhere, laura another great fight.
Yes, yes, that was a great fight, um martinez, another big upset.
That was another big huge upset.
Yes, yes, it was a huge um.
I upset.
I didn’t expect that one mm-hmm and, as you can imagine us knocking on lads, we’re really upset about that getting knocked out.
Won’T we no oh he’s from that.
Uh that nicola woods he’s from sheffield mate.
He’S um he’s paul palmer, so he wins his world title by the way.
Lee wood won his world title the week before uh galahad wins his world title.
If he didn’t see this, he comes straight out of the ring, and the first thing he does is puts lee wood down for winning the wba regular belt.
By saying, oh, my vote, don’t say regular on it: wow wow, oh by an old man yeah.
It wasn’t very funny to me in carl whatsoever what i didn’t understand.
He just achieved a life lifelong goal.
You know the straps around his waist and he’s taking it leeway’s, obviously living room three in his head for him to be talking about lee wood and the pose match party.
Just won a world championship told you everything you need to know: yeah yeah um.
He didn’t show much cluster, no, no, no, no, that’s not class at all, no glass at all, none whatsoever! Well, gentlemen.
It’S about that time to all the viewers that are out there.
