Foreign [ Music ], thanks for tuning in to today’s episode of knuckle up with yours truly Mike or it is female Friday – and I am talking about Nina Hughes – guys, yes, Nina Hughes, this 40 year old female, who is ranked number one out of seven in that Bantamweight division in the UK, five out of 186 in the world supporting a record of 5-0 with 2kos.
She is coming off a huge upset win over Jamie Mitchell, and that was for the WBA World, Bantam titled back on November, the 26th.
Shortly after that guys, what did she do? She inks a promotional deal with the big guys, man matchroom, long-term promotional contract with matchroom.
You know.
Life truly begins at 40 for Nina Hughes.
Uh momentum continues to roll on for the unbeaten Brit um.
You know who has signed this promotional deal with Master embarking, the move comes, you know, literally a month or a couple of weeks after she claimed the WBA bantamweight title from a well-earned 10-round win over previously unbeaten champ Jamie, the miracle Mitchell on November 26, in Dubai, With that goal, signing one of the sports leading promotional companies with a vast stable of top female vouchers in the sport was a no-brainer for both sides.
Uh Hughes, who is now five and over two Kos, only recently celebrated her one year anniversary in the Pro ranks.
With the mother of two uh making her debut at the age of 39 just last December, the third guys the late entry came after and decorated, but spread out amateur uh.
You know once primed, But ultimately denied a sport on the 2012 or sorry United spot on the 2012 Great Britain Olympic boxing team uh that competed in London Hughes stepped away shortly thereafter to start a family getting married and then having the couple’s first child before returning To the gym merely as a means to get back into shape, the boxing bug didn’t take long to return from there uh with Hughes, Keen unturning Pro prior to covid lockdown following the birth of her second child.
A strong push was made uh.
You know to her resume and her in-ring plans uh.
It began this Whirlwind run ever since uh winning the Commonwealth phantomweight title in just her third Pro fight Hughes ended her first full year in the sport with by far the biggest win of her career, and that was dethroning Jamie, the miracle Mitchell, three months after celebrating Her 40th birthday uh, the wind, comes as another major fight in her division takes place, uh in Leeds uh, New South Wales, ebony Bridges uh.
You know her first title defense against Shannon O’Connell uh.
You know who has won eight in a row, guys be on the lookout for this woman man, Nene Hughes, ain’t, that long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn just near the end of 2022.
You know, 40 years old, she’s trained by Kevin Lilly managed by Lee.
Eden is a four-time Aba national champion and only term professional in December of 2021 and at the age of 39.
She landed that vague in Commonwealth and WBO International titles in her third fight against Tyson Gallagher before hitting gold against Mitchell in her fifth fight uh.
In the paid ranks guys so you know she’s joining a highly competitive bantamweight division uh in the match, room stable alongside world champion, ebony Bridges and formal title holder, Shannon Courtney, so guys she has definitely got some people in that corner to help her along the way.
In this wonderful Journey that she now embarks on Wow, 40 years old uh, you know turning pro at 39 a year in you already got three titles uh.
You know you got back in in the boxing just to get into shape.
Um.
You know he was persuaded.
The two Box by your coach at the time who was Chris OKO uh, you know once you had your first fight, which was uh one.
You know you, you were pushed.
You were pushed forward man.
It was something that you were.
You were meant to do and uh definitely once you’ve entered these paid ranks it’s it’s showing that uh.
You know you’re in the right sport.
Definitely after missing out on the Olympics, she retired from the sport for three years, in which time she got married and had her son and look at this guys she has returned.
She has come back she’s doing these paid ranks uh.
