Deal in the house just in time welcome to talk and fight fight fans and uh.
Here we go another great episode monday evening.
What do you got for us, neil [, Music ]? Oh, we got more of these technical difficulties.
What’S a great picture of neil, i got ta say uh.
He was explaining his gila floor sweater in the background his gilbert perot sweater in the background and behind his hand as a winnipeg jet sweater and a hockey player by name of cronin cronin the barbarian and maybe we’ll get neil back to say.
A few words about boxing – maybe we won’t – maybe we won’t well.
Maybe i’ve got two minutes to spend with you before neil gets back on.
Let’S have a quick look at uh boxing news see.
If there’s any headlines, i can relate anthony joshua versus kubrat.
Pula of results highlights okay, frampton wants canelo to fight peter bieber at 175 says plant could beat him you there neal, yes, sir, how are you graham, i’m back sorry guys a little bit of technical difficulties there? I guess i don’t know where i left off, but anyways we’ll just start with uh hey how you doing thanks a lot for everything, guys the likes the shares, the comments.
Uh, the all-around love that you’ve been giving us over here.
We absolutely enjoy every second of it so bring it on.
I i i’m really blown away by all this, so uh.
Thanks again, i really appreciate it.
Thank you very much um.
If you didn’t notice guys, graham i’m just gon na, show the the viewers out there.
I decided you guys have been so good that i’m going to change the wall of fame all right, so i decided to bring out a few more of my friends so over here we have uh gila fleur montreal canadiens over here we have joe bear perrault.
These are some of my favorite players and over here we have, of course, mr winnipeg jet team usolani, so uh.
What can i tell you about those guys we’re talking boxing but hey, i’m a sports fan, and i got my you know my teams playing this weekend.
Graham, as you know, we’re going to take down the dog pound is going to be put pounded into the dog house and they’re, going to basically go home with their tails between their legs and that’ll, be the end of them.
So anyways, let’s get back to the boxing here, graham so uh we’re gon na talk guys again, thanks for everything, keep her going.
Uh we’re gon na talk about another canadian guy, graham sweat, because it’s a new year and things have changed.
I really want to start giving uh some respect to the olympic boxers and the canadian boxers that have actually uh represented us over the years and i’ve been retired for quite a number of years and uh.
I just feel like i loved watching them all of them when i was younger and i never missed the olympics or anything any of that stuff.
So i saw all these guys fight many times any time they were on.
It was basically glued to the tv so um we’re going to keep up the the theme with the canadian boxers.
Graham and tonight i’m going to talk about a guy who is uh one of my favorite guys because he’s about my size about my weight.
You know i always thought well, you know.
Could i beat that guy up? Obviously not, but i was thinking about it, but we’re going to talk about a canadian kid here from niagara falls.
Ontario his name is billy the kid irwin.
That’S billy the kid irwin.
The kid was his nickname uh.
He was born william irwin.
He was born, may 20th, 1968.
So he’s a little bit younger than me so to speak, he’s a retired, amateur boxer and he fought in the light weight division as an amateur and then he turned pro and decided to uh have he was in the lightweight division, as well as the light welterweight Division um, and that was in the 90s and the 2000s, graham so anyways.
He was one of the guys that i used to follow.
He he was in the olympics for us 1992 uh in barcelona, spain.
I remember that fight distinctively.
I was cheering you on billy man.
You know that was a tough one but uh whenever you’re you’re there, man, you represented so awesome, you’re you’re, amazing man, and i want to thank you for everything right uh.
So he had a.
He had a pretty uh lengthy career.
He turned pro in 1993 and uh, he retired in 2005.
.
So that’s a pretty good career.
Graham.
What do you? You know? Yep longevity.
I guess right yeah.
What would that be? 93, 2000, 12 years, yep good good, long career.
It’S a pretty long career, you know, so he definitely worked hard at it uh every fight.
I saw him and he was in every fight and we’re gon na get into that a little more here and we’ll give you give the viewers out there guys, thanks for everything, check out billy the kid irwin he’s one of the great canadian kids uh.
You know the flying canucks, whatever you want to call us right, uh he’s one of the guys that um every time i saw him he he gave a hundred percent.
If you know what i mean he even when you know he took some pretty heavy beatings at times, but he was always laying the beatings himself like he.
He could take a punch and he could give a punch.
So he was that kind of a fighter.
He never backed down to people.
He just basically went at him.
He gave him the best he had.
He stand toe-to-toe middle of the ring.
You know he had some amazing skill.
Obviously, um and billy, like i said man thanks, you’re awesome, i’d love to have you out sometime billy, if you’re out there and uh talking fight land and you’re checking out this uh thing we’re doing on you give our producers a call, maybe or get one of Your buddies to give us a call or something and love to have you on the nail.
The deal show dude uh, it’s like mike, strange and uh and scotty and and uh sid, and all these guys, you guys are like idols.
I’M telling you like, probably don’t fake it, but you actually are you know what i mean like.
We actually look up to you guys immensely uh.
You represented us like year after year after year after year, so um and that’s that’s a lot of dedication.
Perseverance.
You know you know, graham it’s it’s not an easy, it’s not an easy lifestyle.
Put it that way very regimented.
You know.
So, let’s just go through a bit of his fight career.
He uh he had a 48 fights total.
I believe it’s 48 fight total.
He uh he won 42 of them, so he’s 42 wins out of 48 fights.
So that would give him six losses.
He had no draws um.
He did have 30 knockouts, so he had punching power out of those 42 wins.
He knocked out 30 guys.
So his ko percentage, knockout percentage would be a 62.
5 gram, so he’s over the 60 knockout ratio, uh percentage – you say so anything over 60, i think is – is professional like we keep saying anything: you’re, 60 you’re you’re.
Actually, that’s that’s very, very, very good.
So he had a hell of a fight uh.
He actually he only got knocked out once, graham so out of 48 fights he got knocked out.
One time.
That’S that’s impressive! Billy man! I mean somebody’s got to get that fluky haymaker in there or that fluky uppercut.
That you weren’t looking at you know what i mean like it’s just a fluke shot.
It shouldn’t have happened, but anyways.
It should not happen.
That’S a! How do you get one knockout out of almost 50 fights right, so the poor guy? Only he only got knocked out once he probably didn’t like it, but i know what i mean: billy probably happened.
I don’t like that part.
I don’t want to do that anymore.
So anyways he had notable fights he he had a lot.
He was we’re gon na go over his awards, a little bit of what he’s been doing lately, but uh notable fights, graham uh, two that come to mind.
Big ones guys check these ones out, everybody out and uh talk and fight land.
All my fans guys check this one out, uh billy, irwin versus paul spadafora.
All right great fight went the distance.
That’S all i can tell you so you’re, not gon na, be watching for two minutes and billy was in that fight, uh, also uh juan diaz.
He fought a guy named juan diaz for the title.
Those were title fights graham.
I believe that uh, juan diaz was wba paul’s battle for was wbc, so pretty sure we could ask billy if he wants to comment billy you’re out there just make a comment or something i’m probably wrong, but probably not um.
You know what i mean, so you uh, i understand buddy that recently uh you’ve been training.
A lot of these guys, graham turned into trainers for amateurs.
Right yep seems to be a trend.
I guess trend in that sort of thing.
So that’s great because obviously he’s got amazing skill.
I mean it’s his career, it’s what he is, it’s what he does and he’s and he’s giving back to the boxing community in the best that i guess he can um under the circumstances right we’re all.
Under these circumstances, but he’s still training, kids and um he’s he’s doing it in an international field.
I understand he’s not just doing the canadian kids he’s got some international kids that he’s training and coaching and stuff of that sort, and i i know that in 2012 um he had a kid who was named the um.
He earned an award.
I believe it was called the best youth boxing award of 2012.
, so the kids are responding to what he’s you know.
Um some of the kids are probably just a little more advanced with respond with the response, but everybody goes at their own pace.
You know what i mean so, but he’s he’s training new world champions, abraham, which is, which is something awesome right.
So a couple of awards.
He got over his career, which were very, very uh, amazing awards.
Billy, congratulations on the awards, uh we’re gon na.
Let the people know hear all the talk and fight neil the deal fence.
You want a bronze medal for us, buddy yeah man, uh 1991 pan-american games in havana, cuba, so he won a bronze medal for us in that uh international uh field uh.
He also represented canada at the 1992 summer olympics in barcelona, spain.
Unfortunately, he uh lost um in a preliminary match, but uh he represented well.
He was up against a really tough guy, so um, you know what are you gon na? Do it just happens like it’s like in hockey, you get 80 shots of the goalie, but if you got a hot goalie, what are you going to do right? You lose two, nothing right.
What are you gon na? Do it just happens? That’S all.
It is right.
Um, he was also the canadian professional boxing council light heavyweight title.
He won that and he also won the ibo light heavyweight title and he was also the wbc continental america’s lightweight title holder.
So he won quite a number of titles.
You know what i mean and he also fought for world titles um.
So i mean the guy had a fantastic career gram like really uh.
I watched him all the time he was like.
I always i just love all the canadian boxers.
Personally, i don’t know what to tell you right, um and – and i love the amateur stuff – that’s just me because i never went pro with anything really uh, i’m just me um, but uh, so i can identify with being a pro and uh it’s.
It’S amazing right to be able to say that you’ve retired and that’s what you’ve accomplished right.
So i’ll tell you there billy thanks a lot.
Hopefully, you can check me out come on out anytime buddy, i’d love to have you you’re, one of canada’s best come on and uh we’re gon na give.
I got a new one here, graham, let’s try this out.
First, one: okay, so we’re gon na have this knockout meter.
I got this thing.
I’M calling the knockout meter so we’re gon na, say: billy irwin, he’s gon na be the right uppercut right to the chin.
You know what i mean that right, uppercut boom give him one of those billy every time right, uppercut to the chin.
They don’t get up after that, buddy all right.
Exactly so, uh we’re going to talk talk a little bit more about what’s happening later this week.
Guys, thanks for tuning in again thanks for all the stuff, god bless you all for the shares the likes the comments, the subscriptions, keep the subscriptions coming, we’re loving every minute of it.

They all have one so get all the kids around the uh.
You know computers so to speak and yourself and get comfortable and we’re going to talk to a guy that i had an episode.
