Foreign [, Music, ] fight fans, thanks for tuning in to today’s episode of knuckle up with yours truly Mike or it is female Friday, and yes guys.
I have a good one for you.
Today, uh, we are going to be honoring, an amateur Canadian attorney lawyer um, who has paved the way who’s become a Pioneer uh for women’s boxing and uh.
She is about to um get a great honor here: man uh amateur female boxer, Jenny, Reed, born in Calgary Alberta raised in Toronto Ontario.
She was the third of five children and what was a very active and athletic family with her brothers and sisters participating in attractive field hockey, football, volleyball and basketball.
Jenny found her own way running, track, cross country triathlons and also played soccer and hockey in 1990.
Jenny started boxing in Kingston as a way to challenge herself physically and find a release from the still demanding law career, realizing that women were not allowed to box competitively as amateurs Jenny pushed boxing Canada to allow her and other women to have the opportunity to compete On July of 29 and July 29th, 1991 Reed and Teresa robitime made history in the ring uh.
When the two became the first amateur female boxers women to box in a sanctioned amateur boxing match in North America and from 1200 Spectators in Sydney, Nova, Scotia robotime won by Split Decision in a three two and a round boat.
Uh Jenny went on to fight about 11 more times as an amateur with matches at the first Canadian Nationals in 1995, as well as the first internationally sanctioned women’s boxing opened in Sweden in 1996.

Jenny also served as the Canadian women’s team manager at the Italian national tournament in 2005, as well as Russia World Championships in 2006.

Jenny was called to the bar in Ontario in 1989 and has now practiced in six other providences and territories from coast to coast, specializing criminal and family law.
She’S, currently practicing law in Victoria BC under Duncan Associates um guys this is uh.
This is a huge night for women’s boxing uh and and a big night for Jenny, Reed uh.
You know my head goes off to her shout out to you.
You have been an advocate and a participant in women’s boxing for nearly 15 years and now uh the Yukon resident will get a chance to share her passion for this sport with the rest of the world.
Uh Reed has been selected as a team.
She was selected as a team manager for Canada’s national women’s boxing team and the Women’s World Championships in Petersburg.
Russia um.
You know she was Secure.
She was a president of the Yukon amateur boxing Association uh.
She was in charge of the details of Team, Canada, making sure everything ran smoothly, such as passports, plane tickets and Medicals uh.
She was also uh.
She was also part of the weigh-ins with the athletes to deal with any issues that it were to arise.
Uh with the competition rules uh the Canadian team, you know guys, if you don’t know they are one of the best they got our man Cedric as their coach.
So this could only be you know, good things for Team, Canada, but definitely uh Reed has paved the way for uh women in boxing and as an amateur to be inducted into the Hall of Fame uh.
This is a first.
This is a huge deal for her uh.
You know being a huge anniversary milestone for not only the iwbhf’s 10-year anniversary, but also the 25 year anniversary of the associated partnership, women’s boxing archive network uh.
They have made this unique year by inviting uh the 2024 ibhf inductees to also be inducted in this very special celebration at the hall of fame event, uh they’re very excited to announce 12 of the inductees at this time.
That includes nine modern, female boxers, two non-boxer recipients and one Pioneer female.
So without further Ado in the modern professional boxers um, I got ta give a shout out to the man um, the nine modern female boxers who are all other retired world champions and or multi-world Champions uh Relic from Poland, uh Daniella Smith, New Zealand, Susie, Taylor, Nevada.
The USA, Ronda Luna California, USA, Marie Jesus Rosa of Spain, uh, Jackie Fraser, uh, sorry, frizz, Elite, uh, Philadelphia, U.
S, Esther uh, scuten, Netherlands, Stacy, Prestige, Missouri, USA City armor, uh in the non-boxer and Pioneer category uh, the elite, 2024 IB.
Sorry, iwbhf inductees are Judy kulis retired president of the ifba and boxing promoter, Lou depela of New York and Canadian Jenny Reid boxing Pioneer in amateur boxing um.
This is great great great opportunity here, uh great great time for Canada, uh, getting this wonderful Accolade and honestly for her for uh Paving the way for women’s boxing in Canada uh, you know fighting tooth and nail to have sanctioned bodies allow women to fight on a Card, so you know what my hats off to you: Jenny shout out to your wonderful uh, your wonderful Accolade here, being inducted into the international Boxing Hall of Fame, uh congrats man, big big step for her guys.

Reed, congratulations on your wonderful, your wonderful achievement in the world of marching, considering you only did it to stay in shape, and now you have paved the way for women to allow them to compete under sanctioning rules.
Great wonderful thing that you’ve done for boxing uh shout out to you.
You are a true Pioneer, true Trailblazer and uh.
