[, Music ]! Thank you! What up talking fight fans, thanks for tuning in to today’s episode of The Knuckle Up knockout of the week with yours, truly Mike or Emma man, Cedric Ben, and always special guest Tim Witherspoon, joining us to break down this beautiful knockout? Oh, my God heard around the world guys Mysteria, Laura victimizes Leewood in front of his home crowd and takes the belt.
Oh, my God.
I thought this is going.
The other way I had it called for wood in the fifth wood was looking good in that fifth and sixth and seventh up until this vicious left that just sent him to the canvas flat on his back um.
Some people are saying you know early throw in for that tell from uh from the corner.
Some people are saying it wasn’t.
You know, let’s talk about it, though, but what a big knockout uh guys, let’s just chop it up.
Let’S, let’s talk about this big Narco man? Well, as far as the Naka, you know people when people say throwing in the towel.
You know the thing that, I repeat, all the time is that um as a coach, you know obviously boxers always say their pride.
They never want the towel to be thrown in, but as a coach, you got to be able to see over that and the one thing that I always tell my boxers is that um I would.
I would rather you come visit.
I would rather you be mad at me for stopping the fight too early, rather than me coming to visit you in the hospital, because I stopped it too late right, and so you know, and so what I say is if you know you don’t want me to Stop the fight, then, don’t put me in a position to have to make that decision like don’t don’t just stand there against the ropes getting your head popped all over the place and I’m just you think, I’m just gon na stand and be like.
Well, you told me not to throw in the towel so yeah, I’m gon na put there and just watch him die like no right.
So right.
That’S that’s my thing on that.
This isn’t Rocky! This isn’t Rocky 3 and Sylvester Stallone is this is real life here you know the Champs could talk about this.
This is real life.
This is what he was talking about before this and um uh.
Some some trainers want to get like publicity or or you know, when they throw the talent that they so they gon na.
I told uh, I told Mike they’re gon na be interviewing them about that.
It’S going to blow them up um, but I looked at the fight and I I think that he could have went.
Let him go uh again and stop it real quick.
If you, if you don’t reply, if the box is on, you know, show that he ready.
Then stop it but give him another chance, because I thought he was winning the fight.
I thought he was doing real good yeah.
He was yeah so so, in my opinion, um bench – I don’t think he should have threw the towel then if he would have got hit with a couple more shots after the rap letter, but then I would have did it but yeah.
I could understand that to me to me: he was boxing.
He was boxing pretty good and he hurt the other guy.
So um, you know that happens.
Sometimes I see trainers.
Do that trainers that don’t know – and you know it feel like in an area they do that, just to oh I I threw the towel and – and you know I know how to train people and stuff like that.
But that’s what you know through the tiling and stuff and uh.
Oh he’s a trainer, he did real good, but he could be hurting himself too yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he’s number one.
I’M sorry, safety is number one.
50 is number one.
Yes always it’s always.
You know looking out for the safety get him home.
You know get to the next match.
That’S what it’s gon na be uh.
Do you think, there’s a rematch in store for this one? There was one in the closet, but um, I think they said there was one in the closet.
Okay, it was.
It was a great fight leading up to this guys.
I got the shot right here.
We’Re gon na show it and this one uh this one, this one’s gon na be nice guys.
So this is this is the shot that just ends it all right here after that like when you throw the towel in two, so we could talk.
Is that cool? Well, I’ve got I’ve got just I’ve got just the shot here.
It is, you might as well drink it then ugh [, Laughter ].
Here it is guys yeah so and champ.
You can talk about this too.
You know people when people talk about accuracy.
People usually think about um people are usually talking about your offense like accuracy with Landing your punches.
But what I like to remind boxes, too, is is accuracy with your defense.
Yes, because if you see Leewood, he actually had his hand up.
He had his hand up back here, yeah on the chin right, so you need it’s not just accurate.
With throwing your punches, it’s accurate with putting your hand in the right place.
I usually tell them to put it with the temple yeah yeah yeah.
If he had his head in that right place, he would have avoided that big knockout and, like you said he was, I had him winning the fight up until that time too me too, yeah right and wood and wood had that cut over the eye.
Uh.
You know in that that actually yeah in the beginning too, which uh you know, looks like it could have been a problem.
Uh.
Definitely the reason for the second round uh why the a lot of guys gave the second round to Laura uh.
Just because you know, wood was wiping that blood out of his eye and everything I’ve got a close-up of the shot that that put him on his butt and uh.
It shows perfectly what you guys are talking about with the guard here.
It is yeah right see.
This is this right here.
This is on the button.
This is clean.
You know this is.
This is what this is.
What put you know him on his butt there? He is, what do you think about his arm? Him keep doing his harm.
Wait.
Let me get the keep doing this doing this uh um, with his ridiculously using like a mega measuring stick like yeah.
You know he might as well get the jab in and get that point and make it look exactly so what you? What you think about that yeah yeah I mean.
Sometimes I mean you could do it for, like maybe two seconds just to you know just to touch the feel it drill it right into something exactly like one boom and coming across right right there right, but not just to just to leave it out there.
Just hanging like you’re just asking for a counter yeah, my trainer told me just split second right in front of the eyes and drop the right hand, but don’t keep leaving your hand out there, like I said before in the in another show, he would tell me Hit That Elbow or hit something back here, you know, take that left hand out if they keep playing boy hit it hard.
You know stuff like that, so that’s Mayweather and, and there ever do that a lot do they follow him.
They follow him through doing this stuff that again it’s you got ta.
You know how to do it um, no one! Good! Okay! You know a lot of people try to do it, but you know you know they following him right he’s drinking on your show.
No! It’S water man, relax.
One of our viewers said it’s called probing he’s probing.
Oh I got you.
I got you yeah yeah.
How long out you know.
What’S great, though um for number two time ibf Champion Josh Warrington was ringside and uh.
Laura immediately approached him angrily.
After the victory was confirmed, uh a third fight to settle the Rivalry, probably awaits in the summer uh, given the power on display, the opening round was understandably kg.
Although wood showed flashes of the crisp straight ones and twos.
That would trouble Laura throughout uh before the visit you know before it ended the second, with a warning over his chilling power, as they uh traded wildly man honestly what what a great fight man from that point, you know wood generally opted to keep his um his Powder dried to the Fine effect, despite that cut near his left eye that was more irritating than outright problematic um.
Could that do you think? Do you think, as as the fight went on that became more problematic, or did it look like it? Just it literally stopped, you know it wasn’t.
It didn’t seem to bother him too much after the second round, Wood was cut yeah.
What was cutting the first from a from a from a headbutt accidental head Clash, it did seem like to me it bothered him.
Go ahead, yeah to me it didn’t look like it bothered him that much! You know to me, but uh, to have to have Warrington sitting uh, ringside and uh Laura to have some words with him right after um.
What are your thoughts on that guys? But let’s say your emotions, I mean right after your fight, like the Bell literally rang like 30 seconds earlier.
You know you still got your you’re still running high off your emotions from the fight yeah.
Of course, you see, you see your opponent in a crowd like your your adrenaline’s going you’re like yeah I’ll.
Take you on right now, like that’s just that’s just the Heat of the Moment, man that you can’t.
You can’t really fault him for that.
That’S just the Heat of the Moment he just he just went into the to the enemy’s territory in his hometown.
Stop the guy he’s on top of the world.
Then you see the next guy, that’s in your weight class right sitting in the front row.
Of course, you’re gon na talk, [, __ ] to him.
They need stuff like that.
Yeah yeah, like auction, is like floating around, not like a butterfly stinging like a bee.
You know I’m just saying we need stuff like that.
That was that, like that fight really made me feel good, they was banging it was, you know they weren’t limited, sometimes, like you know, just leaving the jab out there because there’s a lot of stuff me and you know what to do with that.
They keep beating their hands out there, but other than that, I really like that fight.
It was banging Big Bang.
There’S a lot of back and forth.
I I thought it was a.
I thought it was a banger man to be honest, um.
You know what Ben Davidson he’s catching.
You know some he’s getting criticized uh you know for throwing in the towel, but yeah and the reason and the only reason why is because uh it was thrown in with approximately 10 seconds left in the round.
You know what I mean by the time.
These guys would have got you know back at at each other.
Would he been, you know would have been saved? Would he been saved? What he had time to rest in between? Would we have seen a different Lee would come out in the eighth round? We don’t know, would he been able to survive that, but we got to remember, as as the ref was checking him before, that towel got thrown in, because the ref was ready to.
Let him go his hands still right aside.
He he didn’t even attempt to pick them and put them back up.
He was still really really dazed and you know I guess that’s what Ben Davidson is saying.
Is you know if if the man isn’t intelligently picking his hands up, you know the minute that ref is like all right guys get back at it, he’s wide open and – and I think that’s what it is.
I don’t see how Ben kid can uh Analyze, That from down there right yeah, the ref said it was okay.
Yeah, that’s going to be hard for him to really tell from that position.
Um.
If he’s really hurt uh in his heart, he he seemed someone in his feelings.
He’S made me not one of them get hit anymore, but he probably could have saved it to the to the you know.
Those 10 seconds you said was left.
He probably could have survived, but he probably would have got hurt, but I would have let it go on just to see and stop real quick stop.
You know, especially especially you know, you’re wearing the belt.
You are the champ you’re in your hometown.
You your people, are there behind you, you know the stadium is, I I think, just just the adrenaline running off the crowd.
Cheering you know him back up.
Uh should have been enough to get him going and at least survive the end of the round.
Come in.
You know at that point at that point: the trainer can see it in his eyes.
If he’s there or not, then that’s the time to throw in the towel, not with 10 seconds left.
You know you just kind of you kind of just gave it away.
Yeah.
Definitely me too um, you know what, but it was a big knockout man, I’m not taking anything from uh from Laura.
You know no great performance, great performance, and definitely you know what it is confirmed.
He does have that power in those hands and you got ta.
Look out for this guy at any point in time.
In the beginning of the fight at the end of the fight, he does have that one punch, stop power and he’s proved it time and time again it was his thing is not over.
That dude is okay too.
He just he learned just a couple more things.
Am I wrong one thing: is that hand and a couple more things, but he he threw that hook too.
He threw them combos, I mean fresh went into.
He just got caught yeah.
He just got caught um just want to touch a a quick like a quick little second here on the uh on the Neri fight, uh wow.
The second fight that I sent you champ wow, what a battle uh Cedric! I know you uh! You were watching that this morning we were.
We were checking that out.
What were your thoughts on that fight man, what what another brilliant KO got? Ta go! First, on that one that one I couldn’t.
I couldn’t really pick up that one, because it was back and forth uh and, and it wasn’t as professional looking as the first fight all right, you know it is from stowing punches and everything yeah these guys were wild, throwing, I believe, uh hovenician, threw about.
I think he threw 688 total shots and um yeah and uh and uh Neary through.
I think it was 598 total shots.
Both guys landed up in the uh, triple digits for body shots or sorry power shots landed.
I believe it was like one 50 to like 140, something it was.
It was pretty crazy, uh.
Definitely what a massive fight uh that one had me on my toes.
It was back and forth non-stop for the whole thing.
Cedric your thoughts on it, uh yeah man.
It was crazy back and forth that Neri and um and his opponent there I uh the the one that I saw I didn’t get.
I didn’t get a chance to watch.
It live the link that I watched on.
It was a little bit blurry, so I didn’t get a chance of like a full, clear view of it, but um you know they were swinging, punches back and forth.
It was stopped.
What round did it get stopped in uh right at the end there? It is.
I got the highlights on the 12th round yeah.
I believe it went right to the end yeah yeah.
I got the highlights on my other laptop here too um, but yeah, that’s uh, I’m assuming I don’t know if there was a rematch clause in this, but judging how close it was in the way that everyone was talking about it, I’m assuming that you know it Warrants a rematch into such a great fight, close fight honestly.
What I love about it is, you know, uh Lewis, he doesn’t fight like the Mexicans.
Do you know he’s he’s got his own kind of style uh.
You know, he’s only got one blemish on his record.
Uh against Brandon Figueroa uh, that was back in uh uh May May 15th 2021 uh.
That was in Ko in the seventh round uh for the WBA and WBC World.
Super Phantoms, uh titles at uh, Disney House Sports parking Carson.
So you know Neary he’s! You know he’s got some power in those hands.
Man and he’s got a chin, and he showed us that last night with that brilliant KO victory over, as as that obanisian at uh the time uh 151 of the 11th.
Sorry guys it didn’t go the 12th.
It made it to the 11th uh wow.
There was that point in that fight there, where um hovanesian stepped back out of it, as he got kind of Dazed leaned against the ropes kind of smiled, left himself wide, open and uh niri.
Just that’s that’s the drop that was the drop that started the whole.
The whole downhill from there, but those guys went at each other hard for the whole thing: the whole fight man, big numbers on those shots – man, you know 688 total to 598 total.
Both guys were up in the 30 percentile of landing net.
So you know these guys were touching each other big, big fight.
That was a hard to judge fight to the end right.
Yeah yeah definitely hard definitely hard.
Well guys, those are the uh.
Those are the two we’re talking about this weekend.
Uh, honestly, I had to talk about the Neri fight.
It was hard to pick between these two but um.
You know what I gave it to Leewood.
We talked about or sorry we gave it to Laura I’ll.
Take you know the wood only because of um.
You know the hype of that man.
You have this guy being booed, walking into the ring coming into that Hometown main event and taken belt, Laura victimizes Leeward in front of Hometown takes that belt.
It’S not the last we’ve heard of Leewood.
We know he’s going to come back, um.
Definitely I’d like to see a rematch uh.
I think it’s deserving of it for sure, which is Applause.
You don’t know if it’s a clause in this country, I think there is a rematch clause in it.
I think there was, I heard them talking about that that there is a rematch clause, so we’ll see what the date yeah yeah – okay, that was beautiful.
