[ Music, ] foreign [, Music ], thanks for tuning in to today’s episode of The Knuckle Up knockout of the week.
Yes, guys lots of big fights this weekend great cards uh, I’m just waiting for our good friend Tim Witherspoon, he’s gon na come join us soon and uh we’re gon na break down this wonderful knockout Richard Torres Jr victimizing James Bryant, with a vicious uppercut in the First round stoppage: wow guys if you haven’t seen it, it is a doozy.
I will definitely will definitely break it down for you, but I got ta talk about some other big event: uh big knockouts this weekend, uh, definitely Thursday night guys.
If you uh had a chance to see uh Montreal Casino, Quebec, Canada uh, this was on USA, ESPN plus uh headline was uh Eve, Ulysses Jr, taking on Gabriel Gomez Valenzuela.
This one was scheduled for 10 Rounds, guys in in the uh super sorry.
In the super light division, guys, uh Evie listens: Junior 22 2-0 uh Valenzuela.
It was 25 3-1, but he made quick work of EV Ulysses Jr 52 seconds into the first round.
Uh Ulysses gets hit uh with a vicious vicious um guys, but so did Richard Torres and Torres.
This was much prettier.
This is why I picked him, but uh yes, also, Alexandre gomont, taking on Carlos Montego uh yeah KO first round.
This is another big one: 226.
In the first definitely huge knockout there uh and you know we had some great fights man I I want to touch base.
I got to touch base on on you know: Emmanuel navarrete taking on you know the the late replacement in Liam Wilson, the one this one was for the WBO World Super feather, strap that was vacant uh and never had.
He fought a hard battle.
Man uh Liam Wilson, found the right punch and dropped never ready in round four uh.
He then rallied back Wilson down in round nine ref called the stop.
He had seen enough 157 in the ninth round.
Neverenty becomes the WBO World Super feather champion, and you know it was.
It was great.
It was a great fight, guys, um.
Also, I want to give a shout out to the Amanda Serrano Erica Cruz, Hernandez fight, what a battle lots of blood guys this one unanimous decision, Amanda Serrano uh – is now the Undisputed she’s holding it ibf.
The IBO WBA WBC WBO World feather titles guys and she is already scheduled guys already scheduled to take on in a rematch Katie Taylor.
This one is set for May the 20th 2023 so guys Mark that date on your calendar.
It’S definitely going to be one for the books.
You know the the last one was a great fight, great battle, this one.
Let’S see if the outcome changes but uh, we can’t take away from the brilliant performance that you put on last night against Erica Cruz, Hernandez.
Uh, you know this one unanimous decision when all the 10 Rounds yo Cruz bloodied from well from early in the fight he cuts on the head literally blood pouring in her eyes and uh.
You know she brought it to her.
She brought it to her.
She she gave it her all.
She fought right to the end right to the bell and uh.
You know it just goes to show that these women have heart and and lots of drive and determination, and they are there to put it all on the line, and you know what these two Warriors put it all on the line last night and the best one Won Amanda Serrano also got ta, give a shout out on the same card: Alicia Baumgardner, taking on elham McAllen this one another Undisputed batch guys.
What the distance unanimous decision win for Alicia, bombardner, ibf, IBO, WBA, WBC, WBO, okay, feather title guys, wow, so big big things.
Uh shout out to sediji Green um, MVP Jake, Paul Steiner, took on Ellen Cedros, took her out TKO big hands.
This girl has big Power, took her out in the six 108 stoppage huge huge match Tim.
I couldn’t oh okay, okay, I don’t know what that was.
I’M sorry, no, it’s all getting so good, but I told them I told them.
We were waiting for you before we started slow, uh, showing the slides and uh.
So what what a big shot Richard Torres, Jr the real deal.
Do you think Tim he’s now been 5-0 five Knockouts? What do you think about him? I think that’s really good.
I watched the video um and we all know that as the as you start, climbing the ladder competition is going to get harder and we’re really going to see his testing.
So he looked pretty strong and he looked really confident.
Let’S see down the line down the line, what’s going to happen, uh the good thing, the good thing I liked is uh in this outing, which was different from the last couple of ones that we’ve seen him in uh.
He took his time starting off uh.
You know he didn’t really rush in there like he did before.
You know, he’s still kind of shaking off that uh that amateur you know he silver medalist in the Olympics, he’s now shaking off.
All that you know the amateur you got to get it done, quick because there’s two minute rounds and all this it’s a way different style of boxing he’s now coming into his own he’s now comfortable in the ring and which is great, he’s slowing down he’s taking His time and with the time that he’s taking is, is showing us these well-placed punches like that vicious uppercut.
She have.
I I seen it I’ve seen that up, because he called him.
Oh, he caught him literally, usually real, quick, um.
There’S a lot of boxers.
Do a lot of movement because because they don’t want to get hit – and I talked to before another podcast – is a lot of them.
They don’t have like a lot of basic defense, so they move a lot and they get they knock guys out and stuff.
But when they’re getting them harder fights, that’s what they’re going to definitely need it so um.
He looks really good and positive and strong.
I like his movement um.
Let’S see what the ladder brings him along down the line, definitely definitely uh.
You know he was outweighed last night by uh by over 30 pounds.
Uh, it didn’t seem to phase him at all.
Uh, you know it was.
It was a big shot.
Uh Richard Torres seems to be the real deal.
I can’t wait to see him as he climbs these ranks yeah and and eventually test them.
You know um.
The 2020 Olympic silver medalist made quick work of James Bryant.
You know he scored a knockdown at the end of the round which left Bryant unsteady upon rising to his feet, with the corner, opting to stop the contest prior to the start of the round.
In round two uh Brian was issued at warning your seconds into the fight.
After nearly wrestling Torres to the canvas uh, the frequent clinches on the inside were the only moments where Bryant was competitive.
Uh.
The difference in skill level was apparent in every combination offered by Torres who was dangerously accurate.
With that left hand uh.
You know this.
Kid Torres he’s only 23 years old he’s a southpaw from Delaware, California, you know he left, he landed.
What turned out to be the fight ending blow late in round one Bryant stumbled for literally walked into a perfectly timed left uppercut by Torres, which sends a Pittsburgh base heavyweight across the ring and into the ropes as he slumped to the canvas.
Bryant beat the count and made it to the Bell, but was unsteady as he staggered and tripped back to his Corner.
Brian’S Corner was prepared to send them back out until legendary cutman.
Jacob stitched Duran saw the defeated fighter in front of him and informed the ref that it was done.
Brian now Falls to four uh six and three with four Kos, as he suffered.
His second consecutive stoppage and Torres has remained uh perfect as a pro as he improves The 5-05 Knockouts and uh.
The unbeaten Prospect has yet to go past the third round, as he approaches his one-year anniversary in the Pro ranks this coming March.
So well, you know the building process for most of your beginning Fighters.
Um.
You know to get opponents, but you know, and and so a lot of uh certain boxers don’t get okay yeah.
I know I was just being quiet.
Listening to the the knowledge of spitting Tim, oh no, no, I’m just saying he’s a it’s a building process.
Hey you! Could you keep her quiet just a little the building the building process? Is you supposed to get opponents as you go up as you go up the ladder and really we’re not supposed to we supposed to respect that now, the guy that he he took the guy out? The guy gave him a good fight.
He’S a good opponent um.
You got a building process, then they’re big fights down the line, uh guys we’re going to see him really getting tests, and we really gon na tell that so he got rid of this guy, but the test the tests are going to come down the line where You’Re going to graduate college and yeah and get a chance he’s gon na graduate the school and then the Hard Knocks all right, yeah right.
That was a good fight.
It was good, it was good, it was good.
I have a.
I have a couple of clips of the actual actual punch.
We’Re gon na show right here right now for all the people that that didn’t get a chance to see this here.
It goes guys.
So you know know this is where Bryant just comes out of the corner.
You know, and he starts walking forward Torres – throws that right, jab out there as as Brian still stumbles forward, and he just starts setting up coming downstairs.
You see that reach.
I swear he’s brushing his knee with that one he’s coming up from the knee as he comes in here and just lands it right on the button clean.
I don’t think it could have been executed any better Brian right off his feet.
There guys, as you can see, so we did a.
We did a podcast.
Yesterday, um we did a podcast with um.
What’S the guy from Georgia? What’S his name Triple G? Yes, we did a little something with Triple G, and you just mentioned about about him.
Leaning down his arms too, so the punch would be more powerful.
If you keep it close to his body, I would have to.
I would have to show you I’m always criticizing, but in the good ways somehow so his arms was kind of far away when he was delivering the punches.
But you know he can get more power if you keep him close to his body and turn his body.
But he left his arms it.
Let me see his arms got farther away yeah, but you can actually deliver a punch from here right from here and close instead of like this right.
Oh, let me give you the music you in here close and turn and sweat.
It’S more harder, if you do that, instead of it coming from out here right, see I’m here so in here.
So what you’re saying is you don’t need to put that much emphasis on it to get the hard shots, and these are things that he’s going to learn as as he goes on through through time? Right, sorry can’t hear you Tim, we lost your sound, can’t hear you, we lost your sound Tim.
Sorry, I don’t know what happened there.
We go.
You know if he kept his his left hand tighter yeah.
No, he did a good job.
You can’t knock that, but if you kept it tighter that kid could have been going to the hospital you know because it was too wide.
Did you hear me say that his punch is too wide yeah, okay, yeah? Okay! Those are all things that that you know.
As he as he progresses through the stages here in the heavyweight division as he grows as a fighter, these are the tips and tricks that he’ll start to learn.
If he has the right training right.
Sorry, you hit the button again Tim.
You hit the button again touch it, it just didn’t even touch it turn and if you don’t have a teacher to let you know that you still gon na win that fight by knockout, but your chances of of really succeeding uh just a little bit less.
So you just keep his hands a little closer when he doing that that kid won’t get off the canvas, but he had his arms out wide when he delivered that punch and his other hand was in the right place.
His other’s left hand was up higher for defense.
That was a good fight.
It was a great fight honestly, great knockout, deserving of The Knockout of the week.
Uh Tim always a pleasure thanks for coming to help me uh, you know, break it down, analyze it for all the people out there.
It’S been a real quick, very much.
It’S been a pleasure having you every Sunday.
I hope you can join me next Sunday as well as we do this again.

I can’t wait to see him uh with some better competition in front of him and uh.
