Foreign [ Music ], and welcome to talk in fact with me holly Donovan.
This is your preview show and I will be previewing the absolutely massive fortnite that will be happening at the O2 in London on Saturday, the 1st of April.
Yes, I am joining the circus of media around the AJ and Jermaine Franklin fight and, however, I’m also going to be previewing a fight that is on the undercard, because I think it’s a great undercard but they’re not necessarily getting as much Limelight as perhaps they should Um, so Fabio wardley, his heavyweight fight against Michael polite coffee will also be in this preview show.
So without further Ado, let’s start from the top um, so Anthony Joshua.
Let’S begin with them: London boy, uh, 24, wins three losses: 22 office wins have come by way off knockout, he is 33 years old and this is being sold as the new dawn.
Aj’S comeback fight um.
He knows a comeback fight, um.
We all know why.
But this is fresh he’s been trying over in the US with Derek James, so he’s got a new trainer he’s described his training sessions as torture he’s been doing, 15-minute spas and he’s also been chopping, wood um, so whole new AJ, hopefully going back to the powerful Bully that he is or was in the ring um now uh, he has a massive power record.
Um, however, he’s only beaten two of his last five opponents.
So let’s chat about that first.
So, most recently there was a split decision loss to usick.
That was the rematch um.
I think what you will about that decision, I’m pretty sure recent one, and that was in August 22, and that was the rematch from the first fight, which was a unanimous decision loss um usik one took all the belts from AJ, and that was in September uh.
21.
um I mean it was just an incredible Fighter.
Um and AJ tried to outbox him, and that was the problem um now previous to that he did actually fight pullip, and that was a KO in the ninth round.
That was the last time we saw AJ as AJ.
Now he has got massive massive power and if you see some of his incredible Knockouts and the people that he’s been in the room with and has managed to overcome, he is not past it.
Hopefully this is a comeback.
You know.
Yes, he was beaten by someone who was even better.
You know usick than AJ, however, he’s still a really good fighter, so he’s had eight to nine months out of the ring, there was kind of a mini breakdown after his rematch with usick.
He grabbed the mic uh in a time when I don’t think he should have done um.
It should have been using’s moment um and instead almost gave excuses as to why he didn’t win.
He was very upset emotionally troubled and no one took the mic off him.
It was insane someone should have done, however, here he is coming back.
People have their reservations, but I do think that this is a good matchup and that we will see the AJ of old.
So a little bit about his um background and and so he’s from Watford, but he did actually begin in Nigeria at a boarding school and he came over to the UK when he was in year, seven uh.
He was particularly good at sports and super athletic.
In fact, in year nine he got 100 meter record uh Sprint and he did that in 11.
6 seconds.
So it was super fast, but he didn’t take anything seriously until he was about 18 years old.
In fact he was a full-time bricklayer.
Can you imagine Anthony Joshua being that now his cousin, he was a pro boxer at the time, suggested that he should take up boxing that you might be quite good at so this is when he was introduced to the ABC Finchley um.
Now, two years later he managed to win the haringey Box Club um, but simultaneously he started to get in trouble with police.
Now he was actually facing 15 years in jail um and he says that was for fighting and other crazy stuff.
Other crazy stuff is a quotation um.
What that crazy stuff is, I don’t know, I think, and the real reason why I decided to then take up boxing really seriously was actually so that he could protect himself whilst in prison um.
He expected that it would be really tough and he wanted to be as strong as possible.
However, he was really lucky and he managed to evade getting locked up um, so he then was beginning to get better um at boxing um.
However, there was more trouble in 2011 uh.
It was to do with speeding and cannabis and he faced more jail time and yeah.
He managed to get away with it again uh.
Instead, he had 100 hours unpaid work um.
He was very lucky not to have jail time, but this is when it really does turn around.
He earned his spot in team GB.
He became serious.
Very dedicated essentially stopped him from going to prison, and obviously we know that when he went to the Olympics in 2012, he captured our hearts and he won that gold medal and and obviously went pro after that and just continued to be incredible.
In fact, there was a period where he had 15 back-to-back World title fights um I mean and she’s just what has had an awful lot of pressure he’s going back to the O2, where he first began, but actually he’s used to sending out stadiums um.
You know everyone that decided he should just retire after those losses.
It’S crazy think of what he has actually done.
Um he’s been in the ring with the very very best first we’re talking about.
You know world champions Vladimir Klitschko Joseph Parker and we’ve also had the vet game political I mentioned earlier uh dillian white.
I mean the list goes on and on and on um now originally he actually said that he didn’t want money.
He wanted medals and actually refused to go pro, but here he is absolutely smashing.
The same people say he’s probably got about four or five decent fights left in him.
I hope to see him for a long time and now he’ll be facing Jermaine Franklin um.
I think this is actually a good matchup.
People are not writing Jermaine, but I actually think just watch his last fight against Julian white.
I think he was good and arguably did he take home the win I’ll leave it up to you re-watch.
It see what you think.
I think that he was a lot better um than dealing white uh.
So here’s our 21 wins one loss that one’s still in one um he’s 29 years old.
A little bit younger and 14 of his wins have come by way of Knockouts.
Now that fight with dillian white was in November so not very long ago um and it was a unanimous loss but word on the street – is actually a lot of people thought he actually won that seven five um, like I said, have a look now.
Jermaine Franklin is actually 10 centimeters shorter than AJ and has 12 centimeters less reach.
He also came in a lot heavier when it was the original press conference, but this week he has shrunk, he’s lost an awful away, he’s come up with it.
He’S got a six-pack.
He looks totally different now in interviews.
He has said that Ashley Joshua definitely has trouble with smaller guys with fast hands, and that is what Jermaine Franklin has trained to be in his full Camp um.
He is obviously gon na watch out for the danger shots from Anthony Joshua.
He said that quite openly, but I think we’re going to see something very new from Jermaine Franklin and I’m excited to see what style he’s going to bring and how that will um affect AJ he’ll, obviously be looking to show uh.
You know he’s got these massive Knockouts left in him.
Um now Jimmy Franklin, unlike AJ, has beaten four of his last five opponents.
He stopped one and the others have gone the distance.
So he’s also proved that he’s got the conditioning and now, previous, that fight with Jillian white.
He fought Jeremy Forrest, he was 26 wins and six losses, so decent opponent, that was in July uh 2019, and he has also, if you look at his record, he’s actually beaten quite a lot of undefeated undefeated fighters in the past um.
However, he hasn’t had anyone in the ring with the caliber of the AJ has you know he’s had epic opponent after epic opponent and Jermaine Franklin won’t have had that AJ without doubt be the hottest person that he’s faced and, however, Jermaine Franklin has fired with Tyson Fury in the past um, let me tell you about his journey into boxing.
He began when he was 12 13 years old, and this is because he kept getting in fights at school and now his stepdad uh came in and said nah not overnight, go to Boxing Club instead and therefore he did now.
He had a pretty small amateur career.
I would say: okay, and he said there were a lot of no shows it was really hard to find an opponent and, however, he did manage to go to the Nationals when he was 17 years old.
That was in 2015.
and he decided he didn’t want to go to Rio 2016 Olympics.
So he decided to go pro instead.
Now he’s openly said that he’s had an awful lot of management issues, um money issues and in fact a quote from him, is that he was treated like a slave by his previous management um, in fact, so much so that he had to take two years or Two years out declare bankruptcy and get a full-time job in order to support his two young daughters.
Um.
However, he’s now back and now earning properly again some good opponents, and one day he says that he would like to actually start a business that is going to create more protection for boxers for their money and protection from Bad management.
Now, what is Jermaine Franklin going to bring uh speed? Uh, hopefully resilience defense um he’s up for it he’s coming to win.
I mean I can’t wait.
I can’t wait to watch his fight and I want anything obviously to come back.
He is the favorite, but you’ve got ta punch his chance in these heavyweight clashes, um so check it out by the way.
This is all live on his own and it’s not pay-per-view.
This is free, just sign up to the Zone.
I think they’ve also got a sky Channel now as well that got released.
So you can watch this fight for free um, it’s gon na be great.
So, let’s move on to a fight that will be on the undercard.
So this is Chief support.
Um another heavyweight Clash, so we’ve got Fabio wardley um.
Now he has had 15 wins.
No losses and 14 of his wins have come by weight of knockout.
He is 28 years old and he is actually the current British heavyweight title holder.
But obviously this isn’t a defense of that belt, because Michael black coffee is from us.
So therefore, this is a fight for the vacant.
Wba Continental belt Fabio wardley definitely has a power Advantage with his ridiculous amount of Knockouts and also, if you want to see his style, that well a small amount of it, because the fight didn’t last very long and his last fight was against Nathan Gorman.
That was in November last year, um, and it was a TKO in round three.
It was very impressive uh previous to that he fought um Daniel Martz um, a decent fighter, 20 wins 10 losses.
That was in February 22.
.
That was a second round uh KO Nathan.
Gorman, by the way, a decent opponent, so 19 wins only two losses: um so well.
It was 19-1, then so yeah really good.
Um.
Last five fights have been stoppage um.
He has been slightly more active than Michael Pollo coffee, but not much it’s it’s quite.
It’S quite even but he’s really famous for his very early uh stoppage and tkos he’s actually managed by dillian white, who I’m mentioning a lot in this previous show.
Uh.
Now Fabio wardley cool story, again her lover cool stories.
He began at 22.
.
He was actually a full-time recruitment office worker um.
However, at six foot five and 16 Stone he decided.
Do you know what I don’t want to do this anymore? I want to be a boxer um.
He got laughter um, but he went for it.
He had four white collar boxing fights that is it and he was totally hooked loved it and decided yeah.
I’M gon na go pro.
So after two years of learning he went pro in 2017.
, a tiny bit earlier than Michael Polk coffee.
They were quite well matched here.
Um now uh, he managed to win the English title against Commonwealth Games, gold, medalist Simon to Lily um.
After going pro, which absolutely shocked the boxing World.
They were like.
Who is this guy? Who has begun at 22 um and has suddenly managed her to win a belt already, and so people took notice.
A lot of his opponents have had to have oxygen after he’s, knocked him out and he’s very famous power, but he’s also fast he’s got fast hands.
He’S got fast feet he’s got some serious skills for ahead, he’s really entertaining like really entertaining fast-moving, powerful heavyweight.
I really like fobby Walling um, now he’s been sparring.
Well, he has sparred AJ chazora um usick.
Even now, he said that he actually wants this flight uh with Michael Black Coffee to actually go more rounds.
He wants more experience.
However, if a knockout comes this way, then obviously he’s going to take it.
Um he’s seeing this as a massive opportunity being on the undercard of such a huge fight card.
He really wants to impress now a lot of other British heavyweights have called him out.
They obviously want that British title that he’s got and people like David adelai want him uh, Fraser Clark last week said you know: he’ll have him as well.
Um now Fabio wardley said yeah.
He tried to get those sites and he wants those fights.
They didn’t come quick enough, therefore, he’s taken this fight instead because he wants to be super active, um, totally fair enough.
So now, let’s have a look at Michael, like coffee, 13 wins three losses: 10 of his wins have come by knockout, here’s 38 years old.
So all 10 years older um, he is from New York, but he lives in Florida.
Now he has stopped three of his last five opponents um.
However, it’s quite interesting, his last fight was actually a rematch uh with Jonathan rice.
Who’S 16 wins six horses um and it was a unanimous decision.
Uh lost to Michael, so that was a rematch, because the previous fight is Jonathan.
He also lost, however, before he thought Jonathan rice.
If you look up his fights, he was doing really well and we’re a really great fighter.
I feel like Jonathan rice is just something about that opponent for him that he just couldn’t deal with and their previous fight, so uh, the Jonathan rice, one fight that was um, Ashley TKO in round five, and that was in July 21.
.
Previous to that, though, let’s talk about one of his wins against Armani Rock who’s, 18 wins and only one loss and also gold, youth World medalist, Champion um, and that was in January 21, and that was a KO in round three.
So what I’m saying is he has had decent opponents and he’s performed really well against them.
So we shouldn’t take.
All of you know our knowledge about Michael polite coffee on those last few fights against Johnson rice.
Yes, two losses, but I think that makes him.
I don’t know more on a mission to to win this one, which is why, again, I think it’d be a really good fight.
Um now he’s had over a year out of the ring um interesting Journey as well into uh into sorry over a year out of the ring previous to these slides.
Now his interesting journey into boxing um starts actually when he was a foster child.
He moved around a lot and couldn’t like uh settle into something, but when he was 20 years old he actually joined the army.
He did four years active duty and four years in the reserves.
Now when he was in the Army uh, he got into fights on nights out and his Corporal suggested that you take up boxing instead of getting into these fights all night out.
So he did.
He said he was just casual boxing fan, he decided to go to a boxing club and he was he was enjoying it.
It was all right, but then his Corporal signed him up for the Golden Gloves.
He only had a two-week camp for the Golden Gloves.
Uh Bart, he won his first fight um by uh KO and he also won the championship so very good fighter very quickly and also he said after that, first um uh KO.
He was utterly hooked by boxing and and couldn’t wait to carry on, and now he also managed to compete at the 2015 Nationals.
He did fall short of the 2016 Olympics in uh Rio, so he decided to go pro.
Instead, he was 30 years old when he decided to go pro um.
He has been fast tracked, but he said he really likes that because of his age.
He knows he started a lot later and but also he says that it means that he’s not on other people’s Radars, but he is, you know they are on his um, so he kind of finds it exciting that he’s kind of this person – that’s just leapt into Into the game um, so uh he’s been reactive as well for three times during covid, I would say: he’s a really durable opponent, actually uh, he he does have power and, like I said he was doing so well for Jonathan Bryce like go on YouTube.
You can see his style, the fact that he’s he’s up for a fight and he is powerful and he is quick um.
It’S just you know so.
Uh please tune in tomorrow night.
That is your uh Chief support act as well.
I hope you enjoyed the preview.
Show today um and remember that everything kicks off around half seven tomorrow on the Zone.
It is not pay-per-view, so please enjoy your flight night and I’ll see you very soon.
