[, Music ]: what up talking fight fans thanks for tuning in to today’s episode of the knuckle up knockout of the week with yours, truly mike, or my man, cedric ben, doing what we do best man knockouts on sunday.
You guys are here.
You know what it’s about it’s about.
The knockout and our winner today of the knockout of the week, goes to our man, rohan wow.
What a vicious body shot last night that ended wow, we do have a slide, show that i put together.
If our producer has put it up, i can’t wait to show it but uh yeah.
Let’S talk about this because i know you’re watching.
I know you were watching this highlight man that i said: yeah, yes, um and it’s it’s um with body shots body.
Shots are a little bit more harder to land because you have to get a lot closer to the person to land.
Well, you don’t have to you, can still land body shots from a distance but um.
You know to really get some rotation on your hips and everything you got to get closer and sit down and he did a little thing right before the knockout happened like he.
It’S about being in the right position: it’s not just about landing the right punch but being in the right position to land to land that punch, and he did a little half step with both of his seat just to get into that right position to land that Uppercut right in the middle, because his opponent bell actually had good defense like this guy’s deep, the other guy is deep.
He has his hands up the bodies open a little bit, but he was open because of the way that uh, that polanco did a quick step to the side and threw a left uppercut right in the middle you’ll see it as the slides go on.
Oh, yes, definitely you will see it as the slides go on.
It was body shots big time for this kid man uh.
Definitely this whole match.
This is what 58 seconds left in the in the second round.
Yes, carl, you love my hat.
I am going for team, i’m going for t brother, you coming with me, but yes, uh, honestly, this fight uh.
This is a big step up to be to be honest man for um polanco uh.
He was fighting derek ball, true journeyman in the game and derek ball.
You know he was 31 32 and one going into that fight.
Last night uh.
It ended at 213 of the second round, and it was.
It was a great body shot.
We are going to show you uh, the slideshow that i put together, but definitely this was a huge uh huge match for him and for uh polenko.
He definitely came through he shined in this match, man.
He was vicious to the body the whole time.
I will put the actual link to the highlights of this fight in the comments, so you guys can check it out, but we’re going to go through the slides right now, real quick.
So i took i took not just the end of it, but a couple of slides here, man to kind of just show you how he was ripping to the body throughout the whole fight yeah, yeah, yeah, hard jab to the body.
Abs punches right left.
Oh look! Look up pause it right.
There pause it okay hold on.
Let me bring that one back.
Please bingo! Look how perfectly placed like again, because his opponent had very good defense.
That’S the way you’re supposed to cover up there’s, that’s the only spot that he could have fit in that body shot like literally the only spot that he that he could have fitted in and he see how his both legs are bent a little bit of extra Weight on that front leg, bringing it up and he’s bringing it up and in there man he’s digging he’s digging hard yeah.
What i love about this is that this here is just before the finish, so you know he was tenderizing up that body man with shots throughout the first and second round uh.
He was already down once ball was down once prior to this stoppage in this round.
Um honestly, but this what a well-placed body shot like we’ll continue on with the slides here it comes out yeah back up square.
I know you felt that one that must have slowed him down a little bit.
Yeah definitely comes back in slips, the jab slips.
It stays real low man staying real low slipping.
Those punches gets back up in his face, creating that distance to push off and the beginning of the end here it is guys yeah yeah.
This is this.
Is that shot? Look at his feet? Look at his feet.
Uh did he land the punch already yeah? Oh yeah, he landed it already, you’re right that he did a quick, a quick switch of his feet here.
It is yeah yeah he comes with.
He comes with the swinging right.
Yes, big vicious right, yeah, just missing.
Just barely and then watch his feet watch his feet see how his feet are in a different position.
Right now, like yeah, that’s how fast he did it the frame couldn’t even catch it.
No the frame couldn’t catch it.
I tried to catch it while i was taking these still shots go back to the last.
Go back to the last.
Go back to the last last slide.
Now look where’s, look, look at his foot position right now: okay and then watch the next slide, how his feet are different when he goes to throw that punch.
He did that on purpose that wasn’t just this randomly moving around no.
I spoke about that before, as he did this ball actually walks in to this body, shot coming and then sits down and then yeah it sits down, eats it right in the same section as we paused it.
On the last slide, where i showed you him digging right under the elbow, he got him again and from there it’s just the beginning of the end of the fall of ball.
Derrick ball man down out for the count.
Uh vicious vicious body shot man.
So our man, the winner of the knuckle up knockout of the week man, goes to our man, rohan polenko, this kid.
Let me tell you a little bit about him.
You know right now he’s registered as a super light fought at walter last night, he’s 8-0 with five knockouts.
His name is rohan polenko el rejo ilimano.
So this kid debuted december, the 17th 2020.
You know he’s eight fights under his belt.
Eight no stepped it up.
Real big last uh fighting derrick ball, who is a serious journeyman in the game? You know 31, 32 and one that’s some, not that’s.
Some huge fights man he’s got 64 fights under his belt.
Definitely a step up for rohan last night, uh cedric, anything else.
You want to add um.
He just thought this fight was just yesterday correct, it’s not good good and that brought his record to what just nice no 8-0, with five knockouts, the kid’s.
Only 23.
he’s 511 he’s from santo domingo, dominican republic, he’s managed by gary hyde.
At nowhere to hide management um out of cork, ireland uh definitely watch out for this kid man, you’re gon na see this in the future yeah.
We will carl we’ll talk about that.
Ortiz, the ortiz fight in a second but um yeah, very interested to see his career again.
It didn’t sound like he had like a big, a long amateur career, but you know some of these guys.
It’S not just about the the record, but about the competition that you faced at the not at the professional level, but at the amateur level, dominican republic.
They do have some good boxes, so i’m assuming you know he had some good good fights some some some good sparring, because the skills that he showed, even though this is my only fight that i saw him watch, you know that you know he did show some.
Some more advanced skills than someone, that’s just a note um, especially with that four.
I keep mentioning the footwork, because that’s not something that that uh.
You know that people like obviously every box, has good footwork if you’re at that level, but to make a quick shift.
Like that, and especially to land, a perfect punch, not too many boxers uh do that.
So you know definitely not a lot of dude, not a lot of them do it.
I did find an amateur record of 22 and eight with no knockouts uh.
I don’t know if it’s accurate, it is on bar trek.
I tried to find something else.
It really couldn’t, but the kid definitely does have skill man.
He definitely got great footwork.
You know he knows how to sit down on those punches.
He can fight on the back foot you can find on the front foot.
The kid is excellent and exciting to watch definitely [ Music ] in the future.
On these tv events, more often out of the dominican republic, you know when dr dr guys can fight you.
You know what it is man they they have it.
They have been doing it for a long time, and this kid is one of the you know, one of their prodigies man, they’re proteges.
You know this up-and-comer we’re gon na see lots of this kid.
Man he’s only 23 he’s got a long career out of him, and hopefully we get to see him in the ring soon again before this year is up uh.
What else do you want to? Well, first of all, let’s uh: let’s give a shout out to uh to to our man johnny fisher who improved to 6-0.
Oh yes, the heavyweights, the heavyweights yeah man, i i had to man i had to i had to talk about this johnny fisher.
The rumford bull, improves to 6-0, with an impressive win over a game, uh an aggressive uh.
I guess it’s michael reisner, uh of the czech republic fischer, who had been out since february due to an injury, looked sharp in getting the win uh when he later said he was in his best.
So far so you know, ryzer came out singing or swinging.
Uh was taken down by a big right hand in round two uh.
The visiting fighter got back up and wanted very much to continue, but the referee had seen seemingly made his mind up as soon as uh ryzen went down and said yo.
That is it.
It is winged off.
The time is 39 seconds uh.
The stoppage did seem to be at least a touch premature uh.
For me, that’s that’s how i saw it.
I thought it was a touch premature, the stoppage, but you know you know what it is man, it’s the ref and you can’t say anything about it: man, it’s to his discretion and to his discretion.
He saw something in the eyes of him last night that did not allow him to be able to let him continue.
Yeah yeah – and you know, i always say safety for safety first, but and it’s um it’s really up to the referee.
You know: that’s it’s up to the referee to decide to decide that, because um, it’s crazy, how some of them will not crazy, but everyone has their own opinion.
Every referee has their own.
How far they’ll let it go because the way that um he went down the way? I know he was arguing when he got up um, and i guess you know when he went down.
He went down hard like he went down like the way that fury went down on wilder but, and he got up the thing: is that referee just simply didn’t let it go? If that you know that, could that’s the same same thing that could happen in the fury, wilder fight um.
So it’s really up to the referee or up to yourself just to not get into that position for to put the referee in that position to have to make that decision um.
But i could understand it like when he got up.
He didn’t look like wobbly or nothing like that, yeah so, but at the same time he went down like he went hard.
He did go down hard.
He was having knocked down tangled up on the ropes.
I agree with you carl.
It was a heavy knockdown um and honestly, in my opinion too, he beats babbage and fabio wardly.
In my view, after that fight last night, oh man, i think i think the possibility is there bro the possibility.
He looked sharp enough to beat babbage and fabio worldly.
That’S i’m not i’m not familiar with fabio worley, but babbage i’ve been on that guy for for a while, i know i know i like babbage too.
I like babbage too, but i saw some good things at fisher last night.
That made me uh made me think that uh he might have babbage’s number man.
To be honest, to be very interesting.
I know carl doesn’t like badminton.
I don’t know i i, like babish man he’s a he’s a even though he’s a brawler he’s not really a boxer.
Um he’s one of those crowd: pleasing type type fighters, yeah yeah i like about it, isn’t big enough, we’ll see we’ll see.
I know i can fight one way gloves up coming forward.
Hey it’s been working for him.
So far, let’s get a couple slips in there.
It’S not like it’s, not any! It’S not any of these.
It’S not like any of these heavyweights are slick boxers, and he has to worry about worry about that that much anyway um as long as he does keep his hands up, and he keeps that pressure on you because babbage is coming to take your head off.
He’S.
Not just trying to die, he is coming to take your head off and um yeah yeah yeah.
I like that guy yo trust me man.
I see drivers and big man listen everyone.
Everyone has their stages as they step up in competition.
You know – and you know what honestly i got to say this man yo fisher is only 23.
okay, oh wow, yeah he’s only 23.
, so you know, and right now he’s ranked uh by box.
Turk, he’s ranked number 15 out of 58 in the uk and he’s ranked 105.
.
So you know this.
This kid’s got a lot a lot, a lot of stuff going on man for 23 years old he’s young.
I guess he doesn’t even have that old man strength.
Yet and look what he’s doing guys? You know it’s uh, it’s pretty! It’S pretty awesome! He’S 6-0! Now, with five knockouts man he’s only 23 6-4.
He weighed in last night at 241, so it was uh.
It was.
It was a big fight, uh but yeah.
Definitely i had to touch on it: man, uh fisher too big for babaji.
I believe that too man babbage, you know how well what’s their height.
What’S their height difference, you guys are just throwing that out there too big, let’s, let’s, let’s measure this.
What’S the tail of the tape, how tall how tall how big is fischer, how tall is it okay? Well, babbage is six one he’s 31 years old, okay and uh.
He only weighs in at about 208 210 pounds so 208 to 210 yeah, 31 years old.
So he has his full grown man, strength, we’re talking about yeah fisher, who’s, 23, okay, six, four and a half and he’s weighing in at 245 pounds, and he don’t even have his old band strength yet so now, when you put it into perspective, like that, you Know be on the lookout be on the lookout.
Heavyweight division, fisher’s in town definitely definitely be on the lookout for johnny fisher man, 6-0.
Five knockouts ranked 15 out of 58 105 out of 13 38 man.
This 23 year old, the rumford bull, be on the lookout for man in the future.
Definitely definitely our runner-up um.
I know you want to talk about.
We got to talk about it.
You you touched on it this morning, uh on your scorecard.
Let’S talk about the uh, the ortiz fight man, victor ortiz versus the or victor ortiz jr versus uh, michael mckinnon, um, ortiz jr.
Yes, carl.
You said before that it was a poor performance from ortiz.
I don’t think so.
I don’t think so.
I think we have to give more credit to mackinson the reason why i say that is because matkinson came into this fight uh, with a break undefeated with 22 wins with only two knockouts, so that was very concerning and um um, and it was worth a great Fight.
Okay, sorry, i thought you said it wasn’t um.
My bad honestly! Ortiz is now 19 to know 19 ko’s.
You know you’re in myself with this.
With his ninth round stoppage win last night, yeah yeah in the wba 147 title eliminator um on saturday night.
You know that that’s what it was, but he doesn’t look ready for the likes of jiren boots.
Innis is what people are saying.
Given the performance by ortiz, his promoters at golden boy would do well uh to give him um to get him a more season.
Uh, like a more more seasoning before he goes after one of the belts at welter.
You know ortiz ortiz24 did what he had to do in tracking down and stopping british fighter mckinson uh last night.
You know the fight was far from easy for ortiz, as he swung and missed mckinsey repeatedly until finally catching him with the left of the body to put him down in the eighth uh.
It could have been a real dicey situation for ortiz if mckinson had any punching power, so you know for him to go for him.
That’S exactly what i was saying.
Uh i was saying before is that uh we have to give more credit to mattison, because i was expecting a fourth round uh tko from ortiz, because of the way he fights um keeps both ends up comes forward comes forward with an aggressive, smart, aggressive style with Both hands up, um and he’s and he’s relentless with his attack and matt, gives it with only two knockouts.
I thought you know uh uh ortiz would get to him sooner.
I actually had.
I gave matkins in the first two rounds, but already at the towards the end of the second round, you can see sleep, see ortiz yeah, um, slowly, picking up picking up the pressure um, but mackinson’s skills like he was doing everything that you you’re supposed to do Against a pressure fighter like that, he just didn’t have respectable enough power for to make ortiz slow down, because he was doing everything that self opposition give him.
A nice jab nice hook moving doing good, lateral movement, doing good lateral movements, but and that, because that’s what helped him survive till nine rounds is the excellent boxing skills.
So i could so now i can see like um why he was still undefeated, with only two fights with 22 wins now.
If a fighter was only had 12 fights, it finally had 12 fights with two knockouts to be like yeah.
This guy has no power at all and not worried about anything, but at 22 wins undefeated with only two knockouts.
That means your skills must be really good for you to you know, because at some point in time your coach, the other coach, is just telling him like this.
Guy has absolutely no power at all.
All you have to do is come after him, so i’m sure i’m assuming that’s been the game plan for for his opponents.
In their past 10 fights and no one’s been able to do it, um so yeah much respect to mackinson, though definitely you know what um he’s very evasive, very elusive in the ring man he’s got great head movement, you know and his ability to make any opponent Miss uh, you know, that’s why he had a record of 22-0 going into that fight.
Uh.
You know he just doesn’t have that punching power to really stop ortiz in his tracks and make him rethink his game plan.
That’S that’s what the problem was last night but ortiz.
Let me let me just talk about the way he went to the body last night, wow, like great vicious body shots you know, planted them well, they were deep.
They were hard.
You could feel them yourselves.
Man sitting on your couch man, it was, it was definitely definitely some great body shots, but definitely i think ortiz needs a couple of warm-ups before he goes and challenges for a big belt against boots and it’s to be honest, uh carl carl made some great uh Great suggestions here – uh thurman garcia, would be some good, warm-ups uh, maybe conor better next, possibly yeah uh uh um yeah, the ben.
He has that experience and power um not the best technique, but he has experience and power so be sure that should be interesting.
[ Laughter ] at 4 30 a.
m.
I felt like i was taking them body shots yeah.
I bet you did the relentless attack that ortiz has managed yeah.
Sometimes sometimes you don’t even sit down sit down to throw in a hard punch, but if you land it before your opponent can see it coming, you know boom boom boom and slide it in there before they have a chance to brace for it yeah those.
Those are the ones that really hurt.
Definitely uh.
You know what yeah carl, i agree with you.
I thought ortiz was cruising a little at times as well.
In that fight uh, you know, like i said performance, it was great, it wasn’t.
Exceptional uh definitely needs a warm-up fight before he gets uh starts starts challenging for the title ben would get stopped by ortiz jr.
I think so.
I think ortiz jr would stop him as well.
I don’t think so, because we have the same last name.
You got to stick with that ben planning.
For that simple reason alone.
Well, yo.
You know what it is guys man, it’s sunday, it’s knuckle up.
Knockout of the week day, our man, rohan polanco, comes through with that vicious body shot to win our this week’s award.
Man, our prestigious knuckle up knockout of the week award shout out to carl thanks for tuning in man, dropping all the comments uh.
Definitely i agree with a lot of the statements you said about having the same surname as cedric.
I bet connor ben is a cleaner gym, [ Laughter, ], anyways um, you kill it brother, you kill it remark.
Anything you want to say before you get out of here.
Um yeah man for all you boxers out there work on your footwork to get into the right position because, like i said it’s not just about landing, the perfect punch, it’s about being in the right position to land that punch.
So there you have it.
