Hello, talking fight fans welcome once again to another episode of nail the deal uh.
This has been a week a great week where we featured uh female fighters from around the world and tonight being no exception.
We’Re going to focus perhaps on that the the pinnacle of female fighters, given, i think she owns four belts.
Isn’T it anyway, whatever she recently uh set a world record, i think male and female uh in terms of what yeah, yeah, okay, so yeah we’re gon na talk about clarissa shields tonight and uh neil? What do you got for us right on graham nice to see you thanks a lot for having me out yeah.
We had a great week talking about female fighters, we’re going to wrap it up with.
Probably my personal favorite uh katie taylor is up.
There, too, is one of my personal favorites and this girl as well clarissa shields, an american fighter who’s pretty much in a very short pro career has done absolutely unbelievable stuff, like it’s just unbelievable.
What she’s been able to do in her uh in her, i would say, short, uh pro career, it’s just it’s unbelievable! So, let’s just let’s just get right into it here she has a nickname guys, oh nice, to see you guys thanks for coming out.
It is friday, and i appreciate uh appreciate all the people around the world checking it out so yeah clarissa clarissa shields.
Her nickname is t-rex t-rex.
If you’ve ever seen her fight she’s like a t-rex she’ll, come she rips you to pieces.
There’S nothing left of you over her amateur and pro career she’s been absolutely amazing.
So that’s a really good handle to have t-rex.
I kind of like that.
You know she was born march 17 1995, which makes her 26 years old and she was born in flint.
Michigan united states, so uh flint michigan, her pro career, started in 2016 to present she’s a presently an active fighter.
She’S fought in three weight divisions.
She fights in the light middleweight middleweight and super middleweight divisions and presently is ranked the number one best active female middleweight.
In the world we’re going to go over the reasons why that is because uh she’s just been unbelievable up to now, she’s ranked also the best active female boxer pound for pound by espn, second by uh ring magazine and fourth by box rex.
So you know she’s she’s, an amazing fighter and uh right now: she’s undisputed undisputed middleweight uh female middleweight champion of the world with the wbo wba wbc and ibf uh belts under under on herself, and she has the unified wbc wbo light middleweight titles and the unified Wbc ibf super little weight titles, so she’s got belts come like.
I, don’t even think she has enough arms and legs to hold all the belts that she has.
You know what i mean: it’s unbelievable uh, she’s, the only boxer in history, male or female guys.
This is a really interesting one, male or female, to hold all major titles simultaneously in two weight divisions.
All right, so she’s got both belts and in two weight divisions, which is the only time in history right and since then, she’s won titles in three weight divisions.
She’S even got bigger and better than that now her amateur career is unbelievable.
It’S it’s she’s, she’s she’s, basically won everything that she’s ever been involved in she’s been a winner right from day one, and she continues to be a winner uh, going forward uh this year and next year, she’s she’s, just gon na continue to get better and better And better and better so in her amateur career she had uh 78 fights, graham, which is uh quite a lot of fights in an amateur career.
She had 77 wins.
She only had the one loss in her amateur career and she had 19 kls in her amateur career.
She began boxing at 11 years old, all right, so she started out quite young and since then she basically she’s been winning every tournament.
She’S been involved in right up to the olympic games.
So let’s just go over some of her her stuff that she’s done as an amateur, her uh, her tournament wins and uh olympic wins so 2011.
She won uh two junior olympic championships when she was right.
Young 2011.
.
Also in 2011, she won the national police athletic league championship 2011.
She also won the women’s elite continental championship so right off the hop she’s just winning these championships, like no problem, she’s she’s, definitely uh, somebody that that is going to go farther and farther, and farther and she’s very well motivated fighters she’s.
She wants to become better and better and better.
So that’s really good: 2014 and 2016.
She won gold medals.
At the world championships 2015.
She won a gold medal at the pan american games.
I think that was held in toronto.
If i remember correctly, i remember 2015.
Pan american games here in toronto, canada and uh – i remember hearing that she had won the gold medal uh in 2000 now and then she she basically topped it off.
In 2012 and 2016.
she won gold medals at the olympic games 2012 in london and uh in 2016.
It was in rio de janeiro.
She won gold medals, so she’s uh she’s, a two-time olympic gold medal winner, which is amazing, she’s the only american boxer in history to win back-to-back olympic gold medals, and she was the first american woman to win an olympic gold medal since uh in 2012.
It was the first year that boxing was introduced into the olympic uh olympic sport, so you know right off the hop she she.
Basically, she won those two gold medals back to back and no nobody’s ever done that so again, she’s just leading the pack with uh, with all her uh, with all her fighting skills.
Now our pro career will move into her pro career, guys check out some of her pro fights.
They’Re just awesome, she’s got all kinds of uh ring presents.
She moves around the ring, really fluently she’s.
She throws in combinations she basically she’s, really well schooled in every facet of boxing from what i’ve seen she can.
She’S got a wicked jab her hand.
Speed is really good.
Her footwork is amazing.
She does all the right things and that’s why she’s winning all these belts, she she’s she’s, just basically a cut above all these other girls, so her pro totals she’s had 11 bouts, all right, which is kind of crazy, to think that she’s only had 11 bouts And she’s got 11 wins so she’s undefeated.
She only has two kos.
Graham, she won the other nine by decision, but that’ll show how she can she can go.
You know the distance with these other girls and still pull out these uh these.
These wins and she’s uh she’s she’s as undefeated right now, so that’s uh, really amazing.
She turned pro in 2016 and in march 2017 she won her first title: the nabf middleweight title.
Then in august 2017 she won the wbc super middleweight title and the ivf super middleweight title so right off the hop within the first year.
She’S got two world she’s got two world titles under her belt, pretty much right away.
You know um, which just goes to show how dominating she is in the ring.
Have you seen? Have you seen her fight? Graham at all yourself, have you seen clarissa yeah? I was really hoping she would fight savannah marshall again uh, but i don’t think she’s going to in the short term, but yeah yeah, i believe one loss she had in her uh in her amateur career was to savannah marshall.
That was the one loss.
That’S the only loss she’s ever had so you never know that might go down.
Let’S hope so.
That’Ll be a great fight for sure, um yeah.
So in june uh 2018 she won the wba and the ibf middleweight title it’s unbelievable.
2018 again she won the wbc middleweight title at 2019.
She won the uh wbo and ring magazine titles, so she’s, just winning every every fight that she’s in is almost a title: fight and she’s.
Winning all these title fights one after another after another, so she’s definitely uh she’s, like i say, she’s she’s, she’s right up there as probably the best uh female fighter out there.
Right now, i would say: hey graham she’s, right at the top of her game and she’s uh she’s, getting better every fight, which is hard to believe when she’s done what she’s done so in april 2019, she won the wpo and ring magazine titles and that and That becoming the undisputed uh women’s middleweight champion of the world, so she had all the belts there in april 2019 and uh.
Congratulations! Clarissa! That’S that’s an amazing accolade just to do that in itself.
Now in 2020 she won the wbc and the light middleweight titles and then in march 2021 she won the ivf uh super super welterweight and uh super middleweight and the wba super middleweight title so everywhere, she’s gone she’s, almost every fight, she’s just won titles.
So you know i i can just imagine how how she feels about this and and she’s she’s, a amazing competitor in the ring.
There’S no doubt about it.
Like uh she’s got she’s got all the skill in the world.
She’S an olympic champion, she’s been a winner.
Ever since she was young so moving forward, uh that, after she won those uh titles in 2021, that it was the she became the first world champion boxer uh with two undisputed titles in two different weight divisions.
So, that’s you know: she’s got them right across the board.
Like i said, she’s probably has a hard time carrying them all you know, and in 2018 she was named a female fighter of the year.
So that’s pretty amazing to have a career of maybe four or five years, a graham and being able to uh to do what she’s done and continue to get better and better and better.
Now, in uh november 2020, apparently she signed a contract to get into mma with the professional fighters league, and this is just recently in the last few days, they’ve been talking about she’s gon na make her her uh debut in mma uh on june 10th, 2021.
In a in this one-off tournament, like it’s a one by one by one tournament, series with the grand prize winner, winning a million dollars, so i it’s amazing that some of these girls, you know, are deciding the boxers are going into mma and the mma boxers are Going into boxing, you know emma, you know what i mean they’re kind of going back and forth right, so it’s really cool that she’s she’s wanting to get into the mma as well.
It’S going to be interesting to see how she fares.
This will be her first.
First, professional mma fight and in her most recent bout i believe, was march just it was just recent march 5th 2021.
.
She fought a canadian girl named marie eve, decer marie eve decer, and the interesting part was that she promoted uh her own pay-per-view event.
Did you know about that? Graham yeah, that was on international women’s day march 5th yeah, and it was all women fights right along the board and she promoted that with her with her promoter herself and it was in flint michigan and apparently it was a huge success.
Uh sales were through the roof and uh.
That’S that that’s really really good news that that that worked out.
That way, because i know that a lot of times the unfortunately, the female fighters are not getting their uh they’re.
Just due with these pay-per-view events, they’re getting a little better, but i think she just got fed up with it and decided to have her own and and go with it, and it went really really really well, so you know she won the fight, unanimous decision, um And it was, it was a big celebration for her.
You know what i mean being able to do that so she’s she’s, like she’s, like a she’s, a forerunner of female fighters, she’s looking to enhance female fighting around the world, she’s doing everything she can to get the notoriety that the female fighters deserve and uh.
I’M really i’m really personally, i’m really proud of her for doing that, and it looks like it’s gon na it’s gon na it’s gon na work in for everybody in the female fighting moving forward.
Hopefully, the purses, like we say, get bigger and they get a little more recognition and get on more of these pay-per-view events and and the future.
The future i would say for uh clarissa shields is, is unlimited.
Really you know at this point she’s, like i say, she’s she’s got all the titles undisputed champion of the world, two divisions uh she’s, going into mma and she’s she’s doing her own pay-per-views and stuff.
So it’s going to be very interesting, uh, seeing what’s going to happen in the next year or two with clarissa, and i’m sure everything that goes down will be uh, be amazing.
So i’m really looking forward to checking it out, hey, graham, how about you you looking forward to that absolutely.
I think the one element uh that i do like about clarissa shields other than her fighting is the fact that she’s very likely, but an inspiration for an entire generation of young women who see the potential uh not only to win titles, win championships migrate successfully from The olympics to the pros and begin your own career, not only as a fighter but as an entrepreneur in this new world, where you’re able to stream your own fights quite frankly and and have them pay-per-view.
So you know she’s done an awful lot in her short career, as you mentioned, and i think she’ll be an inspiration to a generation so two thumbs up.
Oh definitely, two thumbs up she’s, paving the way.
The way i look at it.
You know what i mean.
Graham she’s really paving the way for all the other girls and uh she’s a she’s, a great ambassador for female fighter fighting.
You know overall and uh.
Congratulations to her.
Congratulations: clarissa, fantastic career, fantastic amateur career, all the stuff you’re doing for the sport is great and uh all the best to you in the future.
I hope that everything goes as well as it’s been going and we’ll be looking out for she’s a fantastic fighter guys if you get a chance check out any of clarissa shields fights, you won’t be disappointed.
She is a real gem, you know what i mean and uh any of the fights she’s going forward, they’re going to be title fights because she’s got all the titles, so they’re all going to be good, they’re all going to be good in her weight division.
She’S got them all so they’re going to be good fights and she’s a great fighter.
