Hey good evening, talking fight fans, welcome to another episode of neil the deal and we’re going to start off on a new tangent of boxers uh we’re gon na we’re gon na start following the careers of some of the newer younger champions that are out there right Now, from from right around the world, uh, not in any one specific region, but just champs so who’s.
First, up in your list of champs, hey good evening, graham nice, to see you again, hello, everybody out there around the world and uh here in canada, where we’re uh we’re stationed it’s nice to see you guys again, thanks a lot for coming out.
I really appreciate it so, graham, like you were just saying to the uh neil the deal show fans and the talk and fight fans.
We’Re gon na start doing things a little different guys, so uh we’re gon na start talking going forward about some of the uh guys that are out there right now within the craft, doing exactly what they learned from the uh from their elders.
I guess you would say you know what i mean graham, be it their fathers old, boxers, uh new, the trainers they have now that have trained other fighters.
So we’re going to talk about the new, the new uh fighters that are around the world.
Basically, that are um at the top of their game.
You know what i mean so we’re gon na uh we’re gon na talk about uh, we’re gon na start it off guys thanks again too, for all the likes the shares subscriptions and stuff thanks a lot we’re talking tonight about uh new york city, all right biggest City, i feel in uh.
Basically north america love all you people, it’s a great place to visit and stuff, and you obviously produce fantastic fighters uh in the past and now and will in the future so we’re talking about the present.
So this is just my opinion of the best fighter out of new york city, guys right now, i’m going to tell you that i believe neil the deal thinks it’s teo, firmo lopez, all right, graham, have you heard of uh taya, firma lopez yourself? Oh absolutely, uh! Several of our show hosts have done uh profiles on him uh.
He is he’s a he’s.
A champ he’s he’s a good pick to be out of that new york area he’s great fantastic pick yeah.
Well, you know, like i mean, there’s so many good fighters out of new york and good fighters around the world, as we all know, but if you can take one guy out of uh, you know each city so to speak and say this guy’s the guy to Look out for in the new york region, new york, state, new york city.
I would definitely say this is the kid that’s going to do.
The most damage going forward he’s got absolute amazing skill, i’ve seen two or three of his fights already myself.
I watched them when they were actually being televised and i’ll.
Tell you guys unbelievable uh, unbelievable speed for his is his footwork was amazing the way that he he had a great defense as well.
You know he’s not all offense, but man blazing knockouts, graham, like knockouts of the of the year awards you know, or in there, for not go to the year awards.
He this guy’s got some real real talent all right, so we’re gon na talk a little bit about him where he came from what he’s all about and we’ll uh give you a little more insight if you guys don’t already know so, he was born up teo.
Fellow andres lopez rivera so he’s cut his name down to just use uh his taiyo fellow lopez, tia firmo.
Sorry, i get that always mixed up with taya, phillip stevenson, teo firmo.
Yes, so um, he cut it down to taya, firma lopez and uh.
His nickname, apparently, which i didn’t know, but his cool nickname is uh, is the takeover.
They call him the takeover so right on buddy, that’s awesome.
So you know what i mean: it’s pretty cool, so yeah yeah.
I don’t know, that’s that’s his that’s his nickname.
I guess his buddy’s, nicknamed him or whatever, maybe his parents, maybe his dad right.
I don’t know right, but they call him the takeover and he’s been taking over as we’re going to show everybody out there.
What he’s been doing so, maybe that’s? Why he’s called the takeover he’s taking over he’s a serious cat man, a young kid with a lot of talent, so he was born july 30th, uh 1997.
That makes him 23 years old right now he’s out of brooklyn new york.
Let’S hear it for brooklyn all right: brooklyn got ta like it right on boys, wicked fighters out of brooklyn, as we all know, uh he fights in the lightweight division.
All right he’s been around uh, maybe three four five years so to speak.
He had an amateur.
He had an amateur career uh.
He represented the united states, actually uh um in in the golden gloves all right: 2015 national golden gloves in las vegas lightweight division.
He won a gold medal in 2013 at the youth national championships in reno nevada.
He won a bronze medal, all right, so he he basically started fighting.
Apparently his father started him at six years old, graham so guys he’s been fighting since he was six.
His dad was his first trainer and uh and that’s how he he’s been he’s been making his way there.
So right now, as we speak, he ha he’s been ranked uh number five best active boxer out there out of all the boxers that are out there.
So he’s number five: that’s what they’re saying you know some box wreck might have these guys have them at six.
These guys have them at five.
You know, but technically it’s five.
You know if you look at it he’s number five so that that’s that’s pretty amazing! You know right in itself, so he’s got a he’s, got an uh pro record of 16-0, all right.
He has 12 kos out of 16 fights, so he has not lost the fight yet and uh he’s had a really big fight recently guys uh.
I don’t know if you guys saw it, i did see it.
It was the first fight, graham that was televised um when the pandemic started.
So there were no fans.
So i was really interested to see what a boxing match was going to look like with no fans and especially when it’s taya, firmo lopez, against vasily lomanchenko, and we all know who lomanchenko is well.
I mean most people who are up with the current boxers.
We all know who lomanchenko is: he was basically the best fighter in the world and he probably still is honestly.
He still is, even though lopez beat him which they didn’t give him.
They gave him a chance graham, but they didn’t give him that big of a chance.
So he was an underdog against lomanchenko, but man.
He really showed his stuff and if you guys want to watch him fight this guy right there, it is watch him fight lomanchenko, because honestly guys he’s the best fighter in the world.
Okay, nobody thought that that was gon na happen, but lopez was able to uh.
He just found a way like i’m still you i’ve watched it twice and i’m like wow, so that really surprised me that he was able to do that and win like that and that at the time was for the unified, uh lightweight title heavyweight, uh lightweight championship Of the world, which would be the wbc wba and the wbo titles that lomanchenko had so he took those from lomanchenko there.
They started having discussions about it in september.
In 2020, he agreed to fight him.
He fought him in october 2020 and uh like i say it was the first live one after this pandemic sort of thing.
Like big major fight, you know, so it was interesting to watch a boxing match without fans.
Right.
I don’t know what they i don’t know.
How, how would you feel right because i would think hey, graham and boxing matches the fans dictate ben if your name’s getting cheered like cheer cheer cheer you’re, i’m sure ask any pro boxer if your name’s getting cheered, you’re, getting kind of excited right mike mike or We’Re just talking about that the other day, uh how you can actually hear the coaches and the corner man yelling and screaming after instructions during these fights.
Nowadays without the fans you actually hear them on tv screaming and yelling left left right, jab right hook, yeah! No! Exactly so when the fan, actually, i think this weekend’s gon na be the first one where the fans are back uh in the arenas uh.
I think uh, the big fight this week coming up alvarez, canelo uh, i’m pretty sure he’s gon na have fans in that.
Anyway, sorry, sorry interrupted, you go ahead.
Sorry, yeah! No pro, no, no problem, graham absolutely so yeah! So um, that’s going to be interesting! The fans are back, i’d like to hear it man and they like uh.
You know, love to see the fans back.
I don’t know so that fight that fight again was one double fight.
So we’ll always talk about that fight with him, because it basically put him on the map as like a real serious guy.
Now, like he was already serious, but that now he’s really he’s really stepped it up a notch by by beating lomanchenko, so he did beat another individual.
This is why he’s unified.
He beat a guy named richard comey before he fought lomanchenko, and that was for the uh.
That was for the ibf title lightweight world championship and he beat comey as well.
So he has four belts that makes think it’s unified right, i’m pretty sure the ibf are gon na make and fight george cambosis uh.
If i’m not mistaken.
Yes, there is rumbling that that is gon na happen and if it could be one of those mandatory fight things and then uh i mean he has a choice to do it or not.
So i guess, if he doesn’t, then he relinquishes that belt and keeps the other three right, i’m sure that’s up to his management.
You know so so yeah.
So that’s what we’re talking about so a couple other notable fights uh that we have that we’d like to talk to him about, would be that richard comey fight.
Obviously, for that uh ivf title that was, that was a serious fight like he was.
It was good play right uh, so i suggest you guys take a look at that one and then the other one would be that one.
We mentioned again earlier on the uh, diego magdalena, magdaleno, sorry magdaleno, fight uh.
That was a really good one.
Graham, the fight was great until all of a sudden, like i’m not even going to tell you it’d, be like telling you to plot to a movie or something you know what i mean.
So you guys got to go and check it out yourself and just watch the fight and go oh.
That was good.
It was good good fight, so check them out right out of new york city new york state, like i always like call it new york city.
I don’t know it seems seems cooler, i guess new york, city and uh.
So thanks a lot guys.
That’S my number one pick for the uh for the guys that are fighting and born out of new york, uh, not in new york, so take care guys.
Have yourselves a good evening, graham uh, so before before we before we jump off uh we’ve had a whack of comments come through uh, we have a twitch follower out of belfast and although this is not related at all to tiffon lopez or the lightweight division, he’s Asking neil your opinion in their prime mike tyson or muhammad ali who wins mike tyson or muhammad ali in their prime going toe-to-toe.
Well, is it two out of three nope straight up one shot deal? Okay, wins, i would say one shot deal.
I would go with muhammad ali reason being he’s just he’s just a little more fluid on his feet.
If you know what i mean yeah and although jason has the punching power ali, he took on foreman, he took on fraser and tyson is in that mold right.
So i got ta go with ally greatest of all time.
Come on really that’s it.
I think it’s ali ali over tyson all right.
Thanks for your question.
We got tons of other questions, but we don’t have time to answer them all.
Sorry about that um! I’M! Looking forward to tomorrow night’s show we’re going to continue the series of greatest boxers here and now guys we we need to be following guys.
We should be up on and and we are and uh informing our good viewership who are the best of the best from around the world.
Thanks very much neil appreciate it thanks very much good listenership good viewership, two thumbs up, hey and huckles up all right see you tomorrow, night: okay, graham thanks a lot and thanks again guys for uh coming out watching the show and uh supporting the talk and fight Guys really appreciate it and uh yeah we’re just gon na continue.
